<sigh> This will probably get deleted, but I'll give it a go anyhow..

What exactly is going on with the guild lately. This has always been one of the kindest and most loving guilds I've been a part of in my mmo playtime, and it seems to be falling apart lately. Threads about horde alts getting deleted (didn't know the horde alt thing was a secret, wasn't there a huge thread inviting people into the horde alt guild?), A large chunk of our command staff leaving for personal reasons, flamethrower being able to continue his reign of noobishness (ok seriously the entire thread coudln't be serious), secret meetings mid raid....

I'm nobody in this guild, not a leader not a vet, so I'm not trying to stir anything, but I'm really concerned that there's bad feelings going around and I've seen this destroy guilds in the past. The nice thing about a Christian guild, imho, is that we should be able to sit back and go "hey, we're here for Jesus, and lets get over this drama"..

So I ask, what's going on here?

my advice would be take it up with a guild leader if you have not done so already. most if not all the leaders really are there because they are giving their time for the guild because they care. they will listen.

I don't have personal issues with anyone here, I posted this as a discussion. I have found in my life that the longer things fester as a "secret" the worse they get. This isn't me fishing for info about whats going on, I'd much rather we just get this whole thing fixed and get back on track.

I can understand how those things can seem frustrating.

The meeting in the raid last night wasn't secret, but important information needed to be communicated and the raid channel is never a great place to do that (or appropriate). I'm not sure that there's anything that needs to be "fixed".

Redeemed is definitely still the same welcoming, loving guild that it has always been, filled with people who care about what's happening in eachother's lives, led by some amazing people. One thing that I've noticed is how so many people will PAY to transfer servers, and now even change factions, to be a part of Redeemed. And there isn't another guild anywhere that can say that.

First off, we really need to be careful in pointing the finger at people and questioning what the leadership does. I'm not saying that we as members be welcome mats, but to always give the leadership the benefit of the doubt until we have all the facts. We don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

I became a part of this guild for a few different reasons:

1. No more did I have to worry about constant garbage being said in /gchat.
2. It's awesome that we have brothers and sisters in Christ that love this game as much as we do, and that we can all get together and fellowship and have some great fun.
3. The way the leadership is structured. It isn't set on one person's shoulders to take the brunt of responsibility.

I was a guild leader for 1 1/2 years on Thrall (Horde) before I transferred here. I can honestly say it ruined the game for me. I was the main raid leader as well, which also added to the chaos. I had 2-3 officers in the guild that really did help me out alot, but when we got to be close to 150 accounts and about 300 toons in the guild, things got difficult. When you have that many people, there is NO way you can keep that many people happy. We had people showing up on raid nights 2 hours late complaining and asking why we weren't raiding. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. Too much time and dedication for me to give away for nothing.

All that to say this:
Our leaders are (as far as I know, based on how Cassadine was voted in) chosen by us. Leaders are there to lead. So let them. Being a leader in a guild this large is absolutely not easy. They have to make tough decisions. They have to make decisions that have the best interest of the guild in mind. It is tough in WoW for people in general (don't misunderstand me please, I'm not pointing the finger at this point) to understand that the GL/Officers is in his/her position for a reason, not just because they got in the guild first or their BFF is the GL. They are the ones putting the legwork in and spending an hour or two before a raid prepping on strats to make sure everything is going to go as smooth as possible, and also because for the most part no one else wants to. And half the time when someone says they want to, they don't understand the dedication and time it takes to prep for raids and then lead them.

Now if someone sees something that is out of place, downright rude, or just a little odd in their opinion, with anyone for that matter, take it up with one of the Exec Officers/GL's in a private message on the forums or a /w ingame. They are there for that reason.

And most of all, remember that we are all in this together. It's not about what we receive from the guild as members or even leadership, but about all the effort/time/dedication that we ALL put into the guild as a whole. That is what makes a great guild. We are here to hold each other up, keep each other accountable, and encourage one another in EVERYTHING we do.

I apologize in advance if anyone is offended by this post, it is not intended to offend, just intended for encouragement to all members and leadership.

Let me offer my two cents here:

I am fairly new to the guild - I transferred here because this guild is solid, proven, and has balanced expectations

I was in a Christian guild prior to this that was on a slow drift away from its original purpose, it was very difficult to watch the whole thing fall apart. Certainly if you detect any concerns the most effective thing is prayer.

As a pastor of a church I can tell you that honestly because of people there will never be a perfect situation. Even when you have a church focused on the right things - inevitably there are difficulties. Why? Because people come with a variety of experiences and perspectives that make it very difficult to bring unity. The honest truth is that the only reason there is unity in this guild is because of Jesus Christ, not because of fallen humanity.

I have been pastoring for about 10 years and I would say this - weather the storm. A ship is proved by the storm, and if this guild is of God, difficulties will arise but in the end there will be a blessed joy that emerges.

The Christian life is never free from suffering - that is never promised in Scripture - and despite WoW being a game - there are real people on the other end. The Bible calls us to be slow to speak, and quick to listen, and I would encourage anyone reading this post to refrain from gossip, or assumptions.

The things of the Lord are tried by fire and come out as gold, silver and precious stones. The things that are not of the Lord will burn away as wood and stubble.

I have no idea what is going on, but I am encouraged as Scripture says - to pray without ceasing, so today I will be holding Redeemed up in prayer - whether the situation is serious or not - our leaders need prayer, for it is only when they are filled with the wisdom from the Lord that they can make godly decisions.

Thanks to all the people throwing in their two cents!

To stubs...I can shed some light on a couple of the things you mentioned.

For the "secret meeting" in raid last night. I came into vent to check in on how you all were doing. Instead of asking in the main raid channel, I pulled reco aside. The reasons I had for doing this were so I could get his honest opinion without the fear of him accidentally calling out weak points/people in front of everyone and hurting someone's feelings. Also, after I came back in and addressed everyone in the main channel...things easily got sidetracked with jokes and shenanigans (which isn't bad, but hard on the RL to keep things on track).

For the horde guild thread. Yes, there was a thread back when they first allowed us to create horde on this server. There was talk of making a Redeemed v. on the horde side and people were throwing names around...but nothing ever really came together. I had already made a toon and was playing when I was approached by samboe on his hordie. He made a guild on one of his spontaneous "hey-im-gonna-get-a-guild" ideas. So it was just me and him and the guild name was made up on a mistake he made when he was trying to type something to me. This is how the "horde guild" was formed...no tricks...no behind the back ideas...no "I need to get away from so-and-so"...it was pure fun and happenstance. Sure, we had some times running around Stonemaul where we either helped Redeemies or pwnd their faces right in (sorry :p). Every new and old guild has their phases...and I think our next phase is Operation: Kill Goodwone (TOP SECRET)

oops?

I agree with those who point you to PM's with leadership when it comes to addressing INDIVIDUAL problems such as these. However, I also agree with you bring this COLLECTIVE issue to the forums since there is a bigger, underlying issue that you see.

To be honest, I have been feeling the same way the last month or so. I've seen a drop in our spiritual side and a huge focus on raiding alone. Don't get me wrong, there are constant reminders of our willingness to help others in the game by leveling, gearing, etc. But the spiritual side of Redeemed is all but down to our GMotD and praying before raids. I was actually considering stepping down as head raid leader because I felt that my drive to raid was causing this shift.

With the leadership switches that have been going on...outreach has been placed on the backburner. We are still in the process of getting things organized on all fronts and our Spiritual Leader is one of those positions that still needs to be filled.

Know that we, as your leaders, are doing everything we can to keep Redeemed exactly what is was formed to be, a place for Christians to come play a secular game with the ability to leave the "secular" part out and replace it with a Christ filled environment. Personally speaking, I do what I do because of all of you, not myself. We see the problem and are trying to fix it as best we can.

I hope I was able to address the issues you had questions on, Stubs. And anyone else for that matter.

Angry:Every new and old guild has their phases...and I think our next phase is Operation: Kill Goodwone (TOP SECRET)

ooooooo /smacks angry. I did challange him to kill me on a horde toon and he knows what the result will be, oh pvp joy! I urge you stubbers to come to leadership if you hear rumors or things seems amiss. Redeemed is the same loving and compassionate and wonderful guild it has always been and sometimes rumors get started by accident. For instance, it was stated in guild chat the other day that everyone must be leaving because the roster was 40 players short.......seems serious huh! The truth is, we cleared out unplayed toons as we are putting into place a new system http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34754 and we wanted the roster updated for it. And since we are very generous at allowing people to bring in many alts, there always ends up many unplayed ones. We have actually been growing quite a bit, not shrinking. So, if you had an alt removed, feel free to pst any officer on it and we can get it back in the guild. Whether it is a main or an alt, please log into it at least once a month if you want it kept on the guild roster, we have limited space and the space we have we want to be taken up by toons being used. As far as thinking that a large chunk of our command staff is leaving, that is also not the case, we have had one person step away. I'm still here to harass you stubbers *logs on to go looking for stubbers.* Other then this, there is always an ebb and flow to guilds, people come and go for various reasons, thats just the nature of it.

Srsly folks, believe the best, hope for the best, pray for Redeemed. We are here to support you, pray for you and try to create a positive supportive Christ centered environment where we can fellowship together.

Anyone feel like starting up the Weds night study again? I'm thinking that could be a help. Unfortunately I don't think I can keep doing it (at least teaching it), as my hands are full with being a new dad and all, though I'd likely try to join when I can as a participant.

we woud love to have Wed night Bible Study! Since Citgrad got to busy with work we have been looking for someone to hop into leading it.

GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!

Redeemed is wonderful with many great people. Remember, we are all followers of Jesus Christ and we all need prayers, hugs and love.

flamethrower being able to continue his reign of noobishness
I agree, the Noobishness must stop!

I dont normally post on the forums seriously, so this is rare Stubbs, cherish it.

Redeemed is a great guild and I'm glad Flame and myself joined up here even tho we are east coast and the server is west and raids can be late sometimes on work days :) In regards to issues in recent past with people getting hurt by others, as with any group of people that fellowship together there are going to be ups and downs. It doesnt make those hurts/situations any less painful or damaging but unfortunately common when we let others into our lives. We are all fallen creations just trying to stumble our way into as much perfection (only possible through Christ) as our frail hearts can handle and sometimes we forget that everyone else wearing the title of Christian is just as unstable as we are sometimes. The problem is that being in a Christian guild, or church for that matter, we dont expect to get hurt. We see it as a "safe zone", but tragically there are no "safe zones" and people hurt us sometimes. I love how God calls us His children because no matter what happens to us, He is always there to comfort us.

Everything in life experiences seasons of change, and our guild isnt exempt from that. We just have to hold each other up and pray that God will direct all of us. Through leadership changes, guild promotions or demotions, arguements, and whatever else we may throw at each other we are first and foremost Christians, family, and that is sometimes tough to remember. If we keep our focus on God we will come out alright, maybe a little bruised but still standing, still Redeemed.

ok serious time over, back to cartoons and poo jokes...

He's right - I'm always after him to get on here more. Lots of great responses to a good original post!

I'm very glad to see people concerned with the state of the guild. We are not perfect by any means (if anything, we could do with some more noobishness), but it makes me happy to see that our members care about Redeemed and want to talk about problems and solutions rather than /gquit and move on. I know for a fact that many other guilds are not like that.

And as for the thread title, I'd be very surprised to see a thread like this get deleted. Derogatory, offensive, or other such threads would get deleted, but a thread in which a member is honestly expressing concerns about the guild, and wishing to discuss them is very welcome to me.

A lot of the replies here are correct.

To sum things up. We clean up the unplayed toons like once a month. So once a month, if your on, you'll see like 20-30 toons get removed from guild on average. That's only for toons that haven't played in like 4 months or more usually. There are some exceptions and if one of yours does get removed, please just send a tell to an officer and we'll get ya back in. So yea the guild actually has been growing. We have been gaining more people that are playing.

We do have the Co-GL election coming up soon to replace ALhana's (Theros) spot. We will have more on that coming up within the next week or two. The election was scheduled for the end of this month already but Alhana just needed a break a little sooner. We actually have added a couple officers in the last month to help with things in the guild.

We are looking for someone to take lead on the Wednesday night bible study. Anyone interested, please contact myself, Gilga or any other officer in the guild whether in game or a PM. We definitely would like to get this started up again.

If anyone has any problems or suggestions, please feel free to contact myself, Gilga or any officer for that matter and let us know what's on your mind. If something doesn't seem right, please feel free to contact one of us. Please don't be afraid to ask. We don't mind. We would rather clear things up and give people peace of mind on what's happening rather than keeping any secrets. My door is always open for anyone.

Guys, I really appreciate the replies on this thread, the PMs, and the whispers in game. I really feel much more at ease about the scenario at hand, and I am really very encouraged by the fact that you guys have replied in a very loving and Christian manner. I'm even more encouraged by the fact that we are admitting we have fault, and are open to work on it.

I think this shows how strong this guild is. I'm very happy.
