Okay, guys, here's your warning:

Sunday is Mother's Day!

Hopefully, you've already planned for this. If you have a mom, you must do something for her. A card is obligatory. If you are broke, make one on your computer. And not a quick five minute job, either. Put some time and thought into it! Isn't she worth it?

If you are broke, you must still give her a gift. Make her dinner. Clean the house. Offer to babysit younger siblings so she can go somewhere she wants to go. In other words, show her you love her!

And don't forget grandmothers and wives. It's also nice to at least call any sisters who are moms. (I promise, it's okay to admit you love her just this once.)

Where would we be without moms, after all?

Yep Got it covered her gift from me is my absence! I am going to a Thousand Foot Krutch Concert on Mother's Day!



I do feel bad but this concert is a once in a lifetime one and I am trying to think of something really nice to give her and do something for her as well. Maybe I can do a lot for her on Sat. since I will be off of work the whole day :).

Hey, you're thinking in advance, and that's good! Saturday is a perfectly valid option; we're celebrating with Paul's mom on Saturday, since we'll be seeing my mom on Sunday. (My mom has a difficult work schedule, so we have to go when she can get the time off...last year she didn't get either day off!)
 
I disagree with Mirawyn. I only buy a gift for my Mother.

My kids buy gifts for their Mother. I buy gifts for my wife on her birthday or our anniversary. I have never bought her anything on Mother's Day because she is not my Mother.
 
Well, Halonic, it IS your fault she went through multiple pregnancies and childbirth... :D

But if she's okay with it, who am I to argue? So, an amended version: Guys, you MUST get the mother of your children a Mother's Day gift, UNLESS you have a clear, unequivocal pass from her.

And no, "Oh, you don't have to do anything for me," does not count. Not unless you can be sure she really means it!

Of course!

I did something I've never done: I bought her a gift certificate! See, she loves to read, but she can't really afford to go to Barnes and Noble and buy whatever she wants. So for once she'll be able to go in and buy something without worrying how she'll afford it! And she can spend her entire day off browsing for something to actually buy, instead of leaving empty-handed.

It was easiest when I was in art school. Her favorite gifts were always one of my projects from class. She was disappointed the one semester she didn't get something I made! But where would she have put my weird stuff from Sculpture I? :rolleyes:
 
In my family on mothers day and fathers day we have a tradition, us kids always make our mom and dad breakfast and usually get them a gift and card.

I am already set for this sunday!
Man this is a busy week, Sat: grad. party, Sun: Mother's day, Mon: Father's Birthday and My Graduation... Talk about crazy! :eek:

I've never know these words to actually be meant......least not by any women I've run into.

Thanks for the heads up though. Got it covered. I'm blessed enough to work very close to all the shops mother's seem to like....namely those expensive candy stores where they make everything daily, and ofcourse........Hallmark.
 
Thanks for making this post. When I went to wallmart today I bought my mother a bag for her car. I discovered my mother loves bags with compartments in them lol.

Well, this mothers day came around and I was thinking of what she did for me when I was a young lad (I was about 8 or so). I had a very serious reading problem and it was from being and still am dislexic. My school didn't really do anything about it so my mother did. For one year, my mother went to a community college to take a program called Willson Reading. It was a program designed for people who have trouble reading. So she took her time studying it just to get me to read. Today I'm 19 and reading books left and right thanks to my mother.

Thanks Mom for all that you have done for me. I love you and I will pray for you.

I have a built in gift advantage. I was born on Mother's Day so technically I could just wrap a ribbon around my head and say, "here I am Mom." I am a perpetual gift.
 
Hehe. I don't really think I could get away with it. I've never tried anyway. That little imp in my mind says I ought to sometime.

Wish I could make a mini-pet ought of that little imp. He would be an ugly sucker. I'd sell him or give him away as quickly as possible.
