Stop Spamming Recount

This article makes it plain and simple. I hate when I go into an instance and these guys will go in and spam recount and then tell you that your DPS is too low because they can out DPS you. I know that there are many factors to DPS, but I don't need players telling me that I suck. In no way is this telling anyone i am leaving, I just posted this to make a point.

Yuseff:

rule 1: don't have any expectations that pugs will respect you and you won't be disappointed.
rule 2: same as rule one.

as you get your gear, your dps will improve, don't let one bad pug stop you from doing your heroics to get your gear, then just group with guildies when you can, guildies rock! :D

I like to get a head start on the dps bashing when I'm leveling and doing a dungeon by doing some early self-deprecating comments like "man, my dps is horrible".

If you beat them to the punch then their comments are redundant. Just a thought. :)

I agree with the premise, but way the article was written suggests it was written more for entertainment value than to actually get a message across.

If the author is truly trying to get people to change their ways, he/she is going about it all wrong...

I run recount primarily for my own purposes..it's a good tool especially when running different types of heroics to see what situations and areas effect your dps.

I.e. heavy AoE areas your dps skyrockets, for me as my toons are casters primarily do I cast something like Rain of Fire or Seed of Corruption for maximum AoE pwnage. I rarely Print Recount lists to party unless I'm really surprised by it.. I will do it if some noob keeps spammin Party chat after every fight b/c they did 8k dps in AoE...I'll usually post it after a boss fight then and say something like "Pshh..this is the only place it counts".

I admit I did post my 22k AoE damage in my guild chat and in a channel b/c I was really shocked as I'd never done that much before. I do spam guild chat also when I'm beating up a target dummy and I'm testing diff specs/gear etc..just so I can track my progress or lack thereof.

You can post Recount numbers w/o being a total jerk about it.

pft boomkins are rediculous...fierce, you're an awesome plater but they really are silly :P finally made one and i see truth! Their numbers are so wonky. They're either good dps or LUNAR PROC/ECLIPSE PROC ba-bam! you just jumped 3k in dps...

High DPS in recount != one is a good player.

Recount and other DPS meters are good "yard sticks" to see where you are, but by no means do they define your skill.

I like to have recount for numbers such as Damage Taken, a stat too many overlook. If you have a rogue who is cranking out high dps, but taking a junkload of damage and then you're wiping because healers can't keep the tank up while having to heal him so much, it's actually the rogue's fault the group is wiping, although most people aren't smart enough to understand that and just assume it's the healer's fault.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah i usually spam it in whisper to Kyle

You guys are jerks, lol!!

I'll sometimes link it in Redmages and give details on dmg distribution to help people know they're balancing their spells right. Example: For Arcane, AB should be 55-60ish % of your damage done. If it's less, you're using Barrage too much or dumping procs early.

lol that would work Piano, but i'm known to be abusive if any healer get too low.... that's why Epics spams it to me when he has a chance =D

I love the "Beatings will continue until healing improves" approach. :)

Hmmmm...
*If the tank dies, it is the healer's fault.
*If the healer dies, it is the group's fault. (You gotta guard those softies.)
*If dps dies, it is his/her own fault.
Thoughts from a tank...

The beatings are good for healers! Suffer well!
