Unfortunately, for most people the MoBo will be half the budget and the Memory the other half. So, their systems would be limited to onboard video and sound. And even if I gave them a CPU, they'd still be dreaming of a simple ATI xpert @play and a SB16 value.

LOL

Oh so with your Canadian funny money that's like 32 bucks.

I already have accounted for the exchange rate and an actual study of price differences between Canadian and American consumer electronic prices.  The price of $468 is in USD.

hmm, the only person who didn't let their ego get in their way is HSC.  So, only HSC has no restrictions on the hardware.  The rest of you, must use a Nvidia 6 series or ATI 850 series video card.

ps... I am giving you guys freebies.  I also bought 4 cooling fans, a new case in that price. I had to also purchase a new 24-pin power supply, but that is not included in your budgets.

w\o.  Unless you want to upgrade them.  I already have a DVD R/RW (all flavours) and CD-R/RW combo drive. And I already have an 80G and 160G HDD

Radeon X850

but, if you don't want to wait, you can limit yourself to the 800.

Its who you know and when they are clearing out older models

I'll ship you an old case, with the mobo and P4 I just replaced, and some other junk and a Ti4200. There we go all set. I win.

hmmm...not equal in stats my friend. That was the condition, equal or better. And some people must do it with a nVidia 6000 series or an ATI 850 series.

nonetheless, I have been thinking that I may have been a little harsh on the requirements. You see, Canadian eltronics seem to be marked up higher then what a simple conversion factor can account for.

For example, the 6800 GT seems to settle on price of about $300 USD. The conversion rate is about 30%. So that would mean in Canada, you should expect a price of about $390 on the shelf, but it is $450. Thats a $60 markup. So my target price for you to meet had an amount taken out for said markups.

So, I decided to take out all the markups and increase your budget to $580 USD before tax and shipping considerations. But, you must now include a purchase of a box and at least 4 cooling fans.

I have a saying in a store while I go shopping, and I always say it loud enough for the nearest customer service rep to hear it.

"If it doesn't have a price tag on it, it must be free."

His system doesn't have a price tag on it, it must be free

Case fans for three bucks!!! I had to shell out $20 a pop. Unfair, unfair, unfair. Gee, maybe I should take out the markup again. See what I have to work with. Man, if I was in the US, I could have put together a machine that could have taken over the world.

lol

GJ. I was just looking at your ATI, the only ATI equivalent I can find is the ATI All-in-wonder 9800 pro: $340.00. And I found some 9600 (none all-in-wonders) for $150 without VGA out
