The Star Trek church

Right outside of Springfield, Missouri, visible from I-44, you'll find an odd site: a large church with what looks to be a symbol from the Star Trek: The Next Generation LCARS interface.

Now you might be thinking what I thought when I first saw this giant symbol marking this roadside church: "Certainly no church would select a symbol so obviously similar to a popular Star Trek symbol?" Or perhaps you're pondering, "How do they not get sued by Star Trek?" Maybe you're wondering, "Did they pick that symbol on purpose to attract Star Trek fans?"

Well, I can't offer answers to these perplexing questions. I can only present these images of "fact stranger than fiction" strangeness.

Looks like one of those churches that "tries" to be different. I believe this is a quote from the website: "We believe the message-- not the method-- is sacred."

No mention of Spock, I was disappointed.

The people on their website are all funny colors (purple, blue, green..). There is definitely something weird going on here.
