Jamestown ($9.99), Tyrian (free), and Raptor: Call of the Shadows ($5.99) are my 3 favorite PC vertical shmups.

Stargunner is a great horizontal shmup and also free.

Geometry Wars ($3.99) and Bullet Candy ($3.99) are both great twinstick shooters.

EDIT: And if anyone figures out how to get the Xeno Assault II demo working in Windows 7 64-bit, please let me know.
