Last night in the ICC10 Sindragosa fight I was being made to look the fool because of a particular problem. Now I ain't God's answer to WoW by any stretch of imagination, but I am not a total, uncoordinated dunderhead. And yes, I fight some mental/physical challenges which were at a high level last night...but that was not the problem. Let me describe the problem and what I have done to overcome it.
The particular phase of the fight is when she sucks everyone in and then does a horrendous aoe that leather & clothies just cannot survive. This is what happens: I will be flying along keeping HoTs on the raid with occasional nourish as needed - no noticeable problem with an acceptable frame rate usually no lower than 12 fps. However, when I get sucked into her blue haze, my frame rate drops to one or two fps and the response to my turn and run commands - well they look retarded and I have yet to survive that phase without a priest popping a bubble on me.
I play with a HP DV6700 described in this Service Manual. It does not allow for a video card upgrade, but the built-in one performs pretty good compared to the old card on my desktop. I run minimal add ons for this fight especially:
*Deadly Boss Mods
*VuhDo
*Macaroon Action Bars
*Addon Control Panel.
I have all video settings set to minimal with only the Particle Density set to medium. All audio settings are at minimal. The only other program running is Ventrillo. I use a usb Logitech keyboard and a usb 5 button MSS mouse. And a Targus usb mini-hub.
I am also using a gaming optimizer, Game Booster, which closes unnecessary background services, etc. I have been using Advanced System Care free edition to help maintain the hard drive, memory, registry, etc. Both of these I downloaded from CNET and had high recommendations. I also have a Scan Disk 2Gig Flash Drive to hopefully provide some extra memory since the flash is not full.
The problem seems to be the blue haze that covers screen when I am sucked in for the dragon's aoe. I had a similar problem in one spot of Forge of Souls after the first boss, when upon exiting his room you turn right, go up a ramp and turn left. I overcame that by keeping my camera angle low so the orange haze does not enter the view.
Please help me...I just cannot afford a fix which would mean using much cash. I have come this far on this laptop - surely it has what is needed to continue.
