Technical difficulties...

I am trying to install SPSS Version 16 (Student Edition) on my netbook. I am following all of the instructions (for Vista) and I constantly get an error stating
"The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag."

What's that mean?! I need to have it installed so I can get familiar with the materials for a test tomorrow.

The computer is an Acer One D150-1165. It meets the minimum requirements.

Also when I'm installing it the computer's DWM turns off (what makes the windows transparent).

I found this site that is supposed to help and I have followed their instructions but when I type in setup.exe -silent nothing happens.

I'm lost.

well, the -silent flag should mean that it installs silently in the background and basically not tell you about anything it's doing.

You'll also want to make sure that you start up the command prompt as an ADMINISTRATOR. Instead of going to "run" and typing "CMD" do this:
Click START -> Select ALL PROGRAMS - > Select ACCESSORIES -> right click COMMAND PROMPT -> Select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

Thanks Kidan!

I got it to work on my desktop at home (has Windows 7 on it), so I am assuming I can get it to work on my netbook as well, just need more time.

As it turns out the version I have isn't as useful as I need it to be, so it isn't as much of a problem as I thought it was.

Regardless, thanks for the help!
