Because of the scout update Team Fortress 2 is half price again until Friday http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/ . That's $9.99 for what is (imo) the best FPS ever (and I do not say stuff like that lightly).

Better than Unreal 2004 or 3
Better than Golden Eye
Better than Perfect Dark
Better than Counter Strike

(I've never played Quake or Halo so I can't say anything about them)
If you don't have a copy and like your FPS's with a strategic, team based, flair buy it and come play with us http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24626 ^^. I shall not rest until all game players everywhere have a copy! :p

I can't run it I don't think, but at $9.99 i might just buy it now and upgrade later.

I am fairly certain it will be on sale again but that's in a few months so up to you :). The game does have it's issues but then what game is perfect? Overall it is the best FPS I've played.

A while back someone had pixel shader issues https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4360-TPJL-2065 so I'd check that requirement out in addition to the requirements listed on the Team Fortress Page http://store.steampowered.com/app/440 .

Man, that is a great deal, sounds like a good time for me to pick it up...but it says "until Friday" payday is Friday and I would have to wait until then, so I wonder if it is through Friday or ending right at Friday...

Knowing Valve I would probably guess the sale would last through Friday. Or at least until late Friday afternoon Pacific Time.

$10 for TF2? Wow. That's a ridiculous bargain.

Good bargain, but I can't agree as the best FPS, to me CS1.5 will always be the best, but life goes on and things change.

Isn't this the 3rd time its been $10 US?

Sounds like their getting desperate. :p

I've played it at my friends place, I like the Scout but that kind of Team-based FPS isn't for me.

I've been playing CS since Version 1.3, so yeah.
I've been playing SC since Version 1.00, so HOORAW! (Totally unrelated genre)

Every time there is an update Valve discounts it. Apparently TF2 is an example of Valves ambition to have games with regularly new, free, downloadable, content or at least that's what I read.

To each his own :).

It's usually ended at noon on the final day.

I came 5 seconds away from purchasing it...then I saw the orange box for $29.99...so I think I am going to talk it over with my wife, then just get the orange box...

Portal is awesome.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is...not as awesome, but still cool.

TF2 rocks. Even if the stun duration for the new Scout bat (the Sandman) is way too long.

Okay, doesn't look like I am getting it after all, I signed up for a new account, and it won't let me log in because of that weird character thing you have to enter, I have tired everything, it just won't work... :(

I wasn't saying I started playing CS at 1.5 it was just my favorite version. I started playing CS in the fall of 1999 so the first version I played was Beta 4.0, not quite the start but only a few months behind. Anyway, back to subject at hand.

I've noticed that I tend to have problems with those pesky keys myself, I've learned that I only have one chance at typing them, no mistakes and hitting the backspace fails the whole thing for me.

Ditto

Portal is worth waiting for the orange box IMO. Half-Life 2 is just ok with me. Honestly it hasn't held my attention enough for me to finish Episode 2 but then Steam's recent temporary bugging of the achievements kind of stopped me half way through it. From what I played Episode 2 was better than Episode 1 though.
