Tank Gear for an Arms Warrior

I am told that with my current build I should be able to tank some bit once defence is up to 490 - therefore uncritable - and that I can attain 490 defence with gear. I have been looking for specific items and most of what I see with +defence is available through Tempest Keep or Hyjal... Not too encouraging since as a guild we have touched neither. The tool I am using to look for these +defence is the character viewer's upgrades option. Any suggestions???

You should be able to get stuff from Heroic Badge turn ins, Kara, and the various Rep vendors that should be able to get your defense up above 490. I've managed to do it on Berstromme. I'm not a great tank, but in a pinch I can throw the gear on and tank. (Even Roar)

Unwavering Legguards 75 Heroic Badges

Shoulderguards of the Bold Drop

Well you get the idea. Check out: Warrior It lets you set parameters for sources of gear, prioritize attributes of the gear and help you build a road map of where to go. I usually have a piece of paper sitting by my computer that has instances and the like of what still has gear I want. Or where I need rep etc. Good Luck and happy gearing!
 
It has been awhile since I last ran with my warrior, but he did manage to get 490 defense without touching kara or any heroic. In between quest and instance drops you should be able to reach 490 defense without too much issue. My warrior also had no talents giving him defense. In between geming, enchants, and various gear pieces you pick up this should be no issue at all.

Here is a thread on gearing pre kara that may help you out. Although it is focused towards gearing a tankadin. Pre T4 gear, tankadins focus largely on the same gear warriors do (and because of Holy Shield mechanics tankadins have to over focus on warrior gear). So it is a good guide for what is available via quests, craftable items and non-raid instances.
