in other pirate-related news, the POTC Online Beta is back up for phase 2.... I'm in and it's a lot better than the first beta test. I'm probably not allowed to disclose that much information, but basically most of the lag was cut out and most of the crash issues were done away with. I still fall out of the world (hard to explain, basically sometimes I'll find myself swimming under everything... buildings and all... it's weird) but not nearly as often.

That is often caused when the server looses sync with the client. Since the physics is handled by the server giving position, velocity and acceleration generally you don't notice the updates except when someone does alot of shifting around or when you are walking up a hill and you loose connection for awhile (acceleration and often times velocity are pointed in the direction you are trying to move and not the actual direction, the collision causes you to move up the hill, so to say)
