“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

While we should seek to understand Scripture as best we can, we must not disregard a passage because it seems difficult or runs contrary to what we wish to hear. The balance of Scripture shows God as both wonderfully merciful and fiercely just.

Furthermore, we shouldn't use the limitations of our understanding as an excuse to live however we see fit and refuse to obey God.
