Plans fail when there is no counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 15:22, HCSB

I know I have a troublesome tendency to start developing plans on my own without asking for input from others. This verse reminded me to seek the advice of wise people when embarking on any new venture. While we should exercise discretion while choosing whose advice to seek, let us remember to not go it alone!

I can attest to this first hand. We started a project of building our own home about 3 years ago, and we just moved in this past weekend. Granted my father-in-law and I were the primary builders, but we ended up being a year behind and substantially over budget because we were told we could do it in "x" time span with "y" amount of money. Rather than looking around, doing research, and asking others input we just went ahead and did it.

We got a lesson in patience as a bonus.
