Yep, you read that right. We don't fight against flesh and blood. we fight against things we cannot see with our normal, human, earthly eyes. (Ok, sometimes we can, however for the most part they move in the heavenly realm.)
We are called to stand (as I said yesterday) Here is what we have to stand again.
Rulers: You don't think that the unseen rulers of this earth have no effect on how the leadership of this world reacts? They do. However, remember this, God is in control, nothign happens without His say so.
Authorities: When Adam was cast out of the garden, our authority over the world was diminished, now we have others who are in authority over us... These authorities will do whatever is in their power to turn us away fromt he path.
Powers of this dark world: Think of this, Paul says "Dark world" and he is right. Our world, our earth, used to be directly beneath the covering of the Lord, however we sinned, we broke the covenant. that allowed evil powers to come in, influence us. (I mean look at Adam and Eve with the apple! THey were influenced greatly)
And last but not least.
The Spiritual forces in heavenly realms: We are hybrid beings. Half mortal, half spirit. When out mortal shell dies, our spirit, our soul, will leave this earth. Because of this duality we hold, we not only have to defend against the earthly attacks that can be put against us, we have to be prepared for the spiritual ones as well.
This is why we need the armor. Without the armor God has given us, we are doomed to fail. (more on this in later posts.)
