** disclaimer - this isn't directly CS related but i need to throw it here because I only know CS ToJ members ;) **

My youth group is heading to Harrisonburg, VA for our summer camp. Now before you go, "yeah summer camp I've been there done that", let me share a little of my testimony.

I'm 31, pastor to students at the Church of Bethel in Bethel, CT. I've been a full time youth pastor for almost 2 years, but I worked as a layman in my previous church with the teens since I was 20. I've been going to camps as a teenager and counselor for the last 19 years (yes I'm old).

I have been around the country to camps, and I have never seen anything like what we my group attended last year. LIFT student ministries sponsored the camp we attended and all I can say is i've never in almost 20 years of camp this camp blew everything I've ever seen about camps away.

The facilities were incredible. Its on a college campus with air conditioning, incredible gym, climbing wall, beach volleyball, paintball, softball, outdoor soccer fields and skate park. We went offsite locally for GoKarts and some other events.

The majority of each day is free time and you have about 100 things to choose between.

We're going back this year

The speakers at the camp are the best youth speakers I have ever heard. Sean Sears, is one of the men directly responsible for me being in full time service and is the Professor of youth ministry at Boston Baptist College.

Ed Trinkle was a youth pastor, missionary to phillipines, and is now working at the Baptist Bible College in springfield missouri.

Both of these guys can flat out bring it.

On top of all that, this camp is fun. I can't explain it enough... God's presense is there in abundance, and isn't compromised, but we have an absolute blast.

So here's the deal.

I'd like to open an invitation for any of you who are interested, to come with my group. There's gonna be about 600 teens there, 30-40 from my group and I'd like you to join us.

It has been surprising to me how many of you are christian teenagers and are NOT actively involved in a youth group, so I really hope you guys will check this out, get more info, and consider coming with us.

The dates of the camp are June 23-27, and the cost is $200.

Feel free to check out the website or IM/email me if you or your parents have more questions.

(oh well, this was just to bring some "action" in this slow forums lately... Is everyone having their finals?)

And... Exodus, sounds like a great camp! I've never been in a Christian camp yet, but hope sometime I'll have the opportunity to do it! Too bad I'm in MI...

If I wasn't using all my money for a missions trip and then for a band trip I'd think about going... after I bought a new graphics card

Maybe you could check the Greyhound lines that go there from your town, and hook up with someone else on the other side and buddy up to camp.

guys for those of you worried about money maybe you could ask ppl in your local church or EVEn maybe exodus church could help you out or maybe find some sponsors you know that may be willing to help you out..... and as far as that goes u can take greyhound i did it, when i was 16 hehe was a little scary going by my self but i am sure all the details will be hashed out for those intrested. Exodus i would love to go too man but i just started my summer job and i need to earn lots o money so i can attend OZark in the fall, i am planning on becoming a youth minister 2 hehe.

maybe we could hook up some time and talk.

anytime man... best book i've ever read (so far) on youth ministry is "your first two years in youth ministry" by doug fields.

other than that, i'd be happy to kick it around with you if you had any questions.
