Steam Crashed on the FDG Scrimmage Day?

I was voice chatting with Icthus earlier today and Steam crashed on us. When I went to join the Scrimmage, my TF2 was stuttering and staggering and the announcer lady's voice was doing the same thing. Is it a steam issue?

I just noticed that it dropped the rest of you off.

I know, of all nights to give out, it had to be tonight, right?

Several people were having trouble with Steam all night. I specifically remember Shagz and Elihu also having troubles getting in to the FDG server after a map change.

Many thanks for making your best effort to join us, Odale. Any chance you'd be interested in BURNINATING the peasants should we arrange a second scrim?

I would gladly set a-light our enemies, but alas, 24 hours later, the game is still "unavailable".

Suggestions are welcome -_-.

Reinstall Steam and try logging in with another account to test it?

I just uninstalled steam, not the games themselves and it is making me download them again?

What kind of logic is that...

I used the CD's and I am okay now. Wish it could have happened earlier so I could have fixed it for the scrimmage date... -_-

I think you can also "defrag" and "validate" your game installs in the Games tab. Just right-click and the options should be there. That might help.

I validated my TF2 install when I was getting those map problems. No idea if there were problems, but it worked after I did that.

Nope. Whenever I exited from Steam when I had TF2 running, everything went screwy. The servers didn't show up, I couldn't fire, and everyone lagged in place. It's practically chained to Steam for the account stuff. It will always use Steam for gameplay. You CAN play it in offline mode I think, but that won't help much.
