Starcraft 2 finally announced!

It looks like it's for real, too!

The announcement was made at 3 p.m. in Seoul, South Korea. That's 1 a.m. Central, 2 a.m. Eastern, 11 p.m. Pacific.

I know that we won't see the game for at least three more years.

I know that it's almost an entirely different crew working on Starcraft 2 than worked on Starcraft 1.

I know that there's no possible way this game can live up to the expectations of the fertile imagination of the Starcraft community.

But right now, none of that has set in.

We're getting Starcraft 2, baby, YEH!

In case you haven't checked it yet, the Blizzard site is updated with the cinematic teaser, gameplay vids, and details on a few protoss units.

just watched all the videos and images. looks like they nerfed zealots a little though oh well who cares they are finally making the game. IM SO PRE ORDERING AND WAITING IN LINE
 
Hehe... I was waiting for this. Starcraft2.com had a countdown for a few days. Pre-ordering as soon as I can. :)
 
Diablo 2 took years to come out, i can't count to number of things I read that always said "This Fall", or "This Summer", "May".........

They kept putting it off and putting it off......that's what I meant.

Lord, Please, Bless us, your humble gaming community. Please, by your will, have the Star Craft 2 not flop.... and actually live up to the last.

The real question is, can you even make a sequel to Starcraft? A GREAT, AMAZING game like starcraft... can you really mach it with another game.... a sequel?

Is the game even going to be a sequel, or just a modification?
 
We may have our very first delay associated with Starcraft II: Blizzard posted that the Gameplay Video for SC2 would be posted today (Sunday, May 20). It's 7:24 p.m. Central at the time of this post and the video is not yet up.

If Blizzard stays true to form, I would venture to guess that this is the first in a long string of delays. :(
 
Apparently SC2 has been in development since 2003.
SEOUL--After announcing that a Starcraft sequel is in the works, Blizzard Entertainment held a follow-up press conference for reporters from Asia Pacific, American, and European territories. [...]

The panel answered questions on numerous topics, including Starcraft II's development history, which Pardo expained "started shortly after Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne" back in 2003. According to Pardo, the game is "very far along," and that the game is already playable in multiplayer with all three factions. When asked about the release date, Pardo gave the answer you may have come to expect from Blizzard: "The game will be released when it's ready."
