We’d like to let all of our StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test participants know that the first phase of the beta test will be coming to an end in all regions on Monday, May 31. The beta test will be unavailable for several weeks while we make some hardware and software configuration changes in preparation for the final phase of the beta test and the release of the game. We plan to bring the beta test back online for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch to complete our testing. We’ll have more details to share about when this final beta-testing phase will begin at a later date.

We’d like to thank all of our beta-test participants for your enthusiasm, dedication, and valuable feedback during the beta test, and we look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the StarCraft II beta test as the game’s July 27 launch approaches.

LOL! :D

Well, looks like you all have to rush it up before the Beta ends. :p

Only 13 days left and I'll be away from the keyboard during the last weekend of the beta phase. :(

EDIT: Also, unless I find a sale where I can buy the game for $50, I may be waiting to buy it. When StarCraft II was announced 3 years ago, I set aside $50 to buy the game (figuratively, not literally). Bumping the price from $50 to $60 in this economy is greed on Activision's part, plain and simple. They're going to sell copies of the game by the truckload; do they really need another $10 per copy--even if it is a AAA title?

I'm bummed it's ending soon. Glad we can work a tourney in before the end.

Given the first game was $50, I'd say we are dealing with inflation. It's what's for dinner.

Inflation? Let's call it what it is: bald-faced greed. And that isn't directed at Blizzard; it's directed at Activision (which is likely the source of the price hike).

Consider yourself blessed. If you got to test the beta then you are one up on me. I'll have to fork out the $60 to see the game in person. Shoot, I can't even play the old game on Win 7 because it locks up.

Add your old key to your battle.net account, there is a client download once you add your key there (includes Broodwars too). works great on Win7.

Tried playing as Administrator?

Mine works. Installed with the original CDs.

I'll have to try that at home and see if it works.

Yep, I tried that and leaving the properties page open for the desktop config. It runs for a while and then locks up at various points.

Meh, I already uninstalled the game. I'll pick it up at retail in about 10 years like I did SC.

Did you try using a batch file as well?

Here's the batch file I use:
taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Starcraft\StarCraft.exe"
start explorer.exe
exit
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I tried Lloren's fix and downloaded the old school game from Battle.net and it seemed to work great this morning. I didn't get a chance to play a full game, but it started up just fine with no color glitches either.
