SpaceShipOne wins $10 million X Prize

yeah it was on cnn. Pretty cool, maybe in 5 or 10 years it would be cheaper to take people into space, even for a few sec. It would be great. I always wanted to go.

I just finished reading "Masters of Doom" and the end talked about how Carmack was trying for the X Prize. I never knew that.
 
wow, i've wanted to be an astronaut and go into space since i was 5 years old.  Last year in astronomy class, we talked about the x-price and debated in the final grade debates about weather we should travel in space or not and maybe fund touist space travel.  There are some really cool ideas out there but looks like someone's idea worked.  That x-prize has been out for a while too.
 
The guy who piloted the second flight was on Letterman tonight. He was saying that they already have orders for flights into space, and could start public flights in less than a year. Also, Richard Branson (Owns Virgin, probably in the top ten richest in the world) is buying out SpaceShipOne in hopes that he can make a viable business out of suborbital transportation. I think that means Paris -> Tokyo in 2 hours or less...thats pretty smoking.
 
There was just something on the discovery channel about the spaceshipone and its flyt in september that was the first leg of the x-prize race.  I taped it, it was called i think "black sky"
 
haha, now that that is achieved, my goal now is to fly a spaceship instead of just sit passenger as a space tourist.
