Sound card with front bezel...

That is what I am looking for.

This creative is going for $200 which is WAYYYYYyyyyYYyyyy too expensive.

I would like a card with a 5.5" front bezel so I can easily plug my headphones in for Ventrilo and unplug them so I can enjoy my Logitech 5.1's when I want to listen to music. Its a pain to plug/unplug either when I want to talk in vent or listen to my music library. With this card if the bezel is being used it automatically uses the front bezel's outputs instead of the card's outputs.

Do any of you know of an alternative to this card that does NOT cost 200 dollars?

Would a 3.5mm switch accomplish the same goal?

Here's an example of Plantronics model on Newegg for $12.99.

If you like 5.1 sound as I do, then buy yourself a True 5.1 Headset for Gamers, there are a few good sets, I use the Medusa Pro Gamer myself[which is on the lower end of the cost spectrum, but they still run around 100], Playing games in 5.1 makes a Huge difference and the X-Fi really brings every sound to life :)

combine the above two options...

I prefer speakers when I'm soloing or listening to music while working and obviously headphones for vent.

Grab some splitters, get a 5.1 headset and split them at the card. No plugging/unplugging of either...just turn the speakers off when you don't want them (or the headset for that matter).

Thats what I was meaning to describe, I forgot that part, THX nattyg, I can use one or the other with no loss of 5.1 that way :)

Will the splitter take into account the front, rear and central plug that would normally go into the sound card?

Like Natty said, 1 per channel. You can save half the cost just by buying 5.1 Headset if you are satisfied with your current card. I have used this setup for almost 2 years now and still happy :p
