Something Shocking: the pvp sets

Well, the pvp sets are going to be updated in the next patch.
Caster Grand Marshal weapons are added, and most stats and bonuses to the gear are improved. While I like the changes to my set, there's a huge problem that's been stated on huge threads on the forums.

If I do not regrind back to lieutenant-commander, I will not be able to access the new gear even though I did hit rank 10 while all the new pvpers can get the new sets. I didnt grind the pvp set for the stats; I grinded it for the appearance. Now that the stats are actually desirable for me now, why is it that I am unable to access the new set?

Hitting rank 10 was incredibly difficult for a paladin, and it is the feat in WoW I am most proud of. To be shafted like this is a real disappointment, and I will NOT regrind my way back to rank 10. To achieve my goal after months only for a better set to appear out of my reach seriously makes me angry.

Note that the new pvp gear is not an upgrade like a new instance set, but rather an update. Some people say that we shouldnt have the option to the new gear because when a new tier set comes out, people still have to earn it. The difference here is that I already spent the effort to gain my rank, much like hitting a certain reputation rank, while being UNABLE to get the new set unless I start from scratch again.

I'm pretty sure that Blizzard is going to make it possible to trade the current epic set for the new version, perhaps they'll make that possible for the rare set as well.

Its true...you have to regrind to rank 10 to get the new blue sets. IMO, this is good. This has the potential of bringing back the casual PvPers now that they have decent rewards to shoot for. If the blue set was simply upgraded, how many of those people would actually go and do some pvping? I never did hit rank 10, I've been grinding since September\October. And I can tell you this, its getting harder to rank and harder to gain faction in BGs now that less and less people are PvPing in both factions.

since most of us can pvp above the average wow'r and the system is designed off each other and not a chart. the more people competeing bascialyl means higher rank for us, with little extra effort (if any extra)

Aves, that's probably the reasoning blizzard has for this.
But some people want to do world pvp like it was before the battlegrounds came out. *points at self*
Blizzard apparently thinks that the high amount of battleground attendance is because people enjoy the honor grinds (I mean sure, it's fun at times but NOT after 300 games, and only by a zillion games can ANYONE get to rank 10 for the gear). If they want world pvp to come back again, this is a step backward.

Several times the tier 1 and 2 sets were updated, and all pieces in the hands of players were automatically updated too. They did not have to refarm all the gear back.

Why should I have to? Before this patch comes out, if I sell/destroy my rank 10 gear (Which I did not and will not do) as long as I keep rank 6 I can always buy it back because what I can buy is calculated by my "Highest Rank", which is lieutenant-commander in my case. After this patch my highest rank only gives me access to wear my old, outdated set.
As I stated before, it's not like asking for automatic upgrades from tier 1 to tier 2 when the tier 2 set came out. Why is it different? Because the old pvp items AND the new ones are the SAME LEVEL GEAR.
It's like having a class that's updated for people who roll after the patch while my old character of that class stays the same, and the only way I can get my character to the updated class is to reroll. That's the idea I'm not happy about.

And Camm, that doesn't mean I can. :( I did it once, but I probably will not be able to anymore. I spent 60 hours of pvp a week for a month straight to earn this rank, and that's just getting from rank 9 to 10.
I already spent all the effort required for the rank, and all the non-former rank 10's that hit it after the patch get the stuff I want even though I did the exact same grind.

All I suggested on the forums is either to automatically update the gear, or allow a quest like the dungeon tier 1-tier 2 to update the gear. I just want the option other than having to do it all over again. Some paladins may actually prefer the old set to the new, since the new one has all the agility and +crit converted into +spell power. So what I feel would be optimal is to allow those that hit rank 10 to be able to exchange sets for the one they want. I think that would be fair for everyone, pre-patch and post-patch.

1.12 will see the coming back of world PvP with non-instanced PvP objectives placed around the world, this is their plan to bring back world PvP, not the new blue PvP sets.

Think ya misunderstood me there, aves.
I simply meant that forbidding the old pvpers to get the updated sets isn't going to help world pvp; I never thought it was meant to improve it in any way.
But! You remind me of a good idea there; a world pvp quest that allows a set exchange would be awesome! :D

Still, I'm confidend that Bliz will do *something* about this.

Almost 600 replies on the exact issue; still growing, and this is only one of several huge threads on the issue.

I still don't like it Azzie. Once that quest is done, all the PvPers go bye bye and I'm still in the same boat. That is, left with a pool of fewer PvPers to PvP with\against to rank up.

The problem with PvP is that once people attain their goal (rank 10, rank 6, Rank 13 or 14, exalted with AV, whatever) they completely, or come to a near complete stop. Which leave people in a lurch as there is now a much smaller pool of players to join BGs or to even find to world PvP with and against.

Ive never really been a fan of how Blizzard has their PvP system set up (player by player comparison versus a chart.) I actually think that leveling your pvp rank in this game is easy. Sure, you might have spent 60 hours a week leveling your rank to get to 10, but in Dark ages (thats right), youd have to spend 30 hours a week for several months, if not a year to get to the equivalent rank (there were 14 in that game, and to get to rank 14 yo had to have 20 million Realm Points.) Can you imagine getting 20 million CPS?

Also, there was no such a thing as a battle ground for the high levels. There were 3 PvP zones. You may not see a soul for several hours, but then you might get demolished by a Relic Raid. No PvP fo Joo!

Personally, I'd much prefer 30 hours a week for a year than 60 hours a week for a quarter of a year. The problem with WoW pvp is not the overall time invested, but the intensity of the time required. I spent every minute of free time I had pvping, and I did my homework between battleground queues for several months.
But I'm interested in that system; is there honor decay in DaoC too? Because otherwise, you can just spend a longer stretch of time without having to intensify the pvp each week like you do in WoW (Which I would much prefer).
I think Tojo, paladin Field Marshal on our server has at almost 10 million cps already. Last time i checked, He's not Grand Marshal yet.

But I'm not saying WoW pvp system is unfair. I'm saying that the fact that to get the new pvp gear I have to do twice the amount of work that post 1.11 pvpers have to do is unfair.
