So Firefox Alternatives?

I recently heard about...

Mozilla recently forced its CEO, Brendan Eich, to resign over his personal support for traditional marriage.

I haven't looked much into it but there is a movement to boycott Firefox. Before deciding if I shall I ask...

1.What browsers are my alternatives?
2.How secure are they?
3.What morals do the people making them support?

(even if they aren't any better morally I may switch to hopefully influence Mozzilla.)

EDIT: I also use Thunderbird so e-mail client alternatives are welcome too.

Don't put yourself out looking if you are doing it for me. Though if you are compelled by conscience go for it :) . I was just asking if people knew already. I already have certain "feelings" towards Microsoft that pushed me to Firefox. Actually some posts on these forums about IE's vulnerabilities was the straw that finally convinced me to make the jump. I wonder if they ever addressed them.

no, no.. I was starting to do it for myself also. I try to look for and patronize businesses that share my world view.. (/me runs to Chik-Fil-A and gets some fries)

I use a mixture of Chrome and Firefox (Generally more Chrome than Firefox). I don't expect non-Christian people and companies to reflect Christian values.

I switched to Chrome a few years ago. I can still use ad block and other software to reduce the spam I see when viewing the web. I am not a big fan of Google, but Chrome works very well. I haven't played around with Opera in a long time, but that might be another to try out.

I too removed Firefox from my computers after this little incident.

Right but we can still influence them by what we support.

In this case I'm not spending any money so I am uncertain how much boycotting them will help. Of course they had a boycott to force him out so a boycott should have an effect on the other side too.

I don't think it was much of a boycott that forced the founder of Mozilla out. The mere suggestion of offending the homosexual lobby is often enough to scare companies into compliance. It just astounds me how much power less than 3% of the population can exercise over the rest of us.

IDK how much of it was the boycott either but having one, on our end, could at least represent an opposing voice.

Saying yes to things is easy saying no is hard. Such is sin and the way of the politically correct.

I digress though. I'd still like to know if there is any browser out there better to support. I guess I can look into Chrome sometime. If I stopped using Firefox would they even know until I don't update it? Hope they wouldn't as it would be rather disconcerting being monitored without knowledge. Guess I could use submit feedback to explain leaving if I do (that boycott did have a sign up but not sold yet).

EDIT: Hmm as I remembered Google has the same agenda . Ironically found after a quick Google.

And if you look into every other non-Christian company you frequent you will find all sorts of sinful activity. Where do you draw the line?

Say I enjoy corn and farmer Bill has quite the stock this year. But farmer Bill has rather unchristian views. Do I avoid buying farmer Bill's corn?

If the company claimed to be a Christian company I would have a problem, but Mozilla has made no such claims (as far as I know).

1 Corinthians 5:9-11
I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

Odd I was just tinkering with alternates to Chrome the other day. I hate Speed Dial with a passion, or is it Spam Dial? So Opera was out. I loaded Firefox, which I haven't used for years because of software clashes with certain programs, still not impressed with it. Using IE for reading my comics and it does ok, but since I reloaded Vista it has acted flakey on Armstrongmywire. So still with Chrome, although after reading the link on browsers I may try Iron. Despite Chromes tracking flaws I still like it for most of my business use.

We aren't talking about keeping company with sinners we are talking about giving them support so they can go support sin. I'll talk to the homeless man just fine but I'm not giving him 5 bucks if I know he'll run out and buy meth. I don't expect to find a Christian company to support (and even that could never be perfect). I only asked the question "is there anything better?" as we should for everything. Boycotts have worked in history but in this case I'm finding little to switch to but I have to look/ask first to know that (a temporary boycott still could work). Like voting someone is going to hold that position and they will be imperfect. Yet one still asks who is the best candidate out there not who is the perfect candidate. Often there exist at least secular companies who don't want to get involved in controversial topics and do their best to not take a stance. Unfortunately even that is changing because not enough people are putting up a fight and the companies are going with the flow.

In my searches I did see some browsers Christians made meant for children's use but IDK if they are secure, stable, just UIs for other browsers or what. I didn't look into it yet as I am hesitant to use something so obscure.

Did some tinkering with Midori in the last couple of hours. Yes fast, ick loves Spam Dial(Speed Dial)and defaults to it, ick it tries to take over all browser responsibilities. Easy to configure, defaults to DuckDuckGo search. Doesn't seem to get flustered with most web sites. If you don't mind Spam Dial and aren't running more than one browser it might be ok for you. Oh yes, one of the devs is listed as a volunteer cat petter at a local shelter. A lot of features to use also. CCleaner doesn't recognize it either. Say you don't use CCleaner? Missing a good thing. Has spam blocker, spell checker, etc, etc.

A very sweet melon liquor I mostly pour for the ladies.

lol :p

This talks about Midori. It does site some Windows 7 issues. While it doesn't look like something I'd like to switch to permanently it's tempting enough to want to test it. It does have a zoom available which is the only additional feature to a basic browser I absolutely must have. I'm going to be translating that page for a while before I decide though, nontechnical Gerbil is nontechnical. No clue as to their morals but cat petting is always good though :) .

This sets off all kinda of Pharisee alarms to me. Pharisee takes 1 law and adds 50 laws to help make sure you don't actually violate that 1 law. Person takes 1 sin and avoids/boycotts amazing technology designed by hundreds of people because 1 person involved resigned over a personal belief related to that 1 sin.

Firefox is as good as it gets. I for one give them my full support.
