CCGR

Hello folks, just thinking of ways to improve and fund CCGR.  Would you think it's worthwhile for CCGR to have unlimited space?  Would it be worth $2 a month to contribute?  The reviews will always be free and I will still offer free demos for download but I figured premium subcribers would get access to the demos first hand..perhaps a mailing list?  Everyone else will only see 500MB worth. (so basically CCGR won't change for regular visitors)

What do you all think?  I'm open to suggestions..to make this fly I would need 15 committed members to start and any extras would be expansion for CCGR perhaps more give aways..maybe even pay reviewers!

What do you all think?  This is the plan I'm looking at on telaweb

Plan 3
$24.99/mo (Annually)
$99.99 Setup Fee

Unlimited Space
Unlimited Hits
CGI, ASP, PHP
FrontPage Ext.
Unlimited FTP Updates
Unlimited POP3's
MySQL, ODBC/DSN, Access Database, DBase (.dbf files), Exce,l Paradox, Text, FoxPro, Wusage, SSL

I like the idea of unlimited space *cough*RPG Zone*cough*

,
but I don't know if I'll have 2$ dollars a month in a form I can send over the net every month >_<

not a problem, like I said earlier if we were to do a subscriber method....regular visitors won't notice anything different. the subscibers would get the benfit of knowing about demos before everyone else sees them etc.

If it means no more going to fileplanet *cough*ahem*wheeze* then yes.

Spyro, you cheap son of a gun.

The idea is great but after seeing how hard it is to get hardcore christian gamers to cough up for the ToJ-CS server i would tread carefully before committing to anything which is expensive..

But a christian fileplanet is great.. what sort of things would be hosted?

well I was thinking for sure any demo that came out Christian and non-Christian alike. Any exlusive stuff from Christian and secular developers I can get a hold of. (Space won't be an issue right?) I eveen eben thinking of hosting beta games.

I have T3 access at work, so they upload super quick...that's where I get my demos from...if my work tightens down I have other sources. Hoping to get cable this summer

Question: Are you only going to have demos, or are you also going to include updates to popular games, such as CS, DOD and others?

And perhaps im overly skeptical, but i'd be wary of "unlimited space" garruntees.

was planning on hosting demos, MODS, patches and beta tests, and cool trailers for games and movies. I turst my host, I've been using them for 2 years and they mean unlimited bandwith I've stressed that a bit. So I have no doubts on space...they might have to stick a few more hard drives in but hey that's what the $25/month is for.

Okay so we only need 10 more people to sign up....for the 56kers should I offer to send 1 demo CD a month to them...would that be a good (legal?) idea??

Making demo CDs are totally legal, as far as I know. It's when you charge for it that it becomes illegal. You can charge for shipping, but you can't charge like $10 for a CD of demos.
