SF2 Come from behind victory video...

Just found this now. If you've ever played Street Fighter 2, this is a must-see video from a tournament in 2004. With Ken down to zero health, Chun Li busts a supercombo...and Ken *parries every single hit* and then busts his own super combo to finish the match! Unbelievable!!

Makes me long for the days when arcades peppered the country-side...

EDIT: fixed the link

Yea...you know, I think we really lost something when we lost arcades. There was a really cool social interaction at arcades, playing co-op or vs. with other players in classics like SF2, Golden Axe, UN Squadron, ESWAT, TMNT, Mortal Kombat, etc. You got to meet other people (so long as they weren't jerks) and there was a social caste system revolving around who was the really good players.

I loved the whole rivalry thing ("Jimmy's Zangief can handle anything Bobby's Chun Li can throw at him"). And if you had a stranger visit from another arcade...watch out. Some of the fighting matches I watched (and played in) were so epic...

<sigh>

But that video just goes *waaaaay* beyond anything I ever saw in the arcades. Whoever that guy was...he was good!

Heh, I was going to say "Ikaruga is hard enough with one controller." I pwn in most shmup games, but Ikaruga kicks my butt. Shikigami No Shiro 2 is pretty difficult, too.

Not only is he playing it two player by himself....but he's actually maintaining his combos through out the level!! Mind?....BLOWN!

Ikaruga video: What the heck is Ikaruga? Looks pretty amazing though.
Ikaruga is one of the greatest shmup (shoot-em-up) games EVAR. Most fans label it the "spiritual successor" to Radiant Silvergun (often named the greatest shmup ever, but, unfortunately, only released for the Sega Saturn). It was released on the Dreamcast in Japan in September 2002. It saw a stateside release on the Gamecube seven months later in April 2003. I can't speak for the Gamecube version, but the Dreamcast version rocks.
