Rifting and you...for players 20+

As many of us are above 20 now I think we should start leading rifting groups. As small as 3 people is great for rifting. We can get tons of kills and have a blast each time. It is very risky however. So...what is rifting?

Aion Rift is the port between Elyos and Asmodians PvE areas, the Rift randomly appears in the maps(>Level 20). Through the Rift, Elyos or Asmodians can enter in the land of opposite faction, its the only way to pvp except Abyss, of course you can only use it to collect materials, do quests or go to common instances.

Some info:

- 1. Appear randomly, but in a certain area
- 2. The number of Rifts that appear in the same time is 2~6
- 3. Time Limit, Number of Players Limit and Level Limit
- 4. The Rift has entrance and exit, but its a unidirectional path
- 5. There is a system announcement for all players in the map when a Rift appears
- 6. There are 14 Rift Points in a map, 7 for aggression (changeless) and 7 for defense

Here are some great rift maps

Here is a fantastic quote from the forums that explains a lot of what it feels like to "Rift"

See thats funny that you say that because i LOVE the Rift System. This is what i do with my wife, so maybe it will give you some ideas how to enjoy it...

When my wife and i want to go "Rifting" duo , we follow these steps... (lvl 29 sorc/29 cleric):

#1. We split up to check Rifts A-E. She flys out to the Garrison to check D and then E, while i check A, B, and then C. If none of these are up, then we know the rift is at G or F , so we go do something else for 30 min and repeat the process. Usually we find a rift open though.

#2. I have only experienced the exit of a rift being camped once. And that was by an enemy guild 6 man. Other than that, have never had a problem with it. That being said, we make our way towards the lower level areas of Asmo Land.(having done this quite a few times now, we know which paths are guard blocked and which are open. ) Running into players along the way is fine, as they are usually solo/duo at higher lvls and we can kick their butts ^^. The lvl 25+ regions are also far less populated.

#3. We set up a Group Kisk at a hidden/out of the way location. This is key to our enjoyment of the Rift System. We know we are going to be hunted/zerged down eventually after a few hits (due to people linking our location in region chat). Thus we bring a Group Kisk to lengthen the amountof time/joy we can have in Asmo land , ruthlessly killing dirty Emodians.

#4. If you are doing the Spy Quests, you have to stay to the edges of the maps, and MOVE. There are key spots to avoid (Quest hubs, etc) and certain places you have to just say a prayer and run for it. Obviously if you are doing this at 3am, you arent going to have as much of a problem.

#5. Always keep moving. Like i said, they will report your location in Region. Keep moving! The best retreat is back into higher lvl territory because the most players are currently at the lvl 20 areas.

#6. If you die, just release to Kisk and head back out. Enjoy the slaughter of another 20 asmos on the way =).

Today alone we had 86 total kills from Rifting. I find the system fun and challenging. We are constantly having to decide whether to hit, or to run. Lots of kiting and crazy moves to stay alive at times. I find the whole system dynamic and exciting. Granted it takes some preparation and practice. but then again, whats the fun in clicking a button to enter a que to join a perfectly balanced Scenario that the only penalty to dying is to wait 10 seconds to respawn and continue to fight the same people until the time limit is up. at which time you click the <join> button again , not really caring what happened, nor what will happen because there is no penalty/risk involved?

Edit- P.S. The system is great to reduce/cut back on Ganking, while still allowing for spontaneous World PvP in a fun/exciting way. Personally, i think it is perfect the way we have Rifts for Mainland, and constant PvP for Abyss.

I hope this helps inform you of this sweet part to the game.
