Have you ever wondered (Deedlyt) how a pally can do soooo much damage? Have you wondered what that dwarf Osk has been doing in Winterspring the past few weeks (tuning pally dps ftw)?
Well, here is your answer from none other than MacHammar himself:
Now I should say this is exactly how I play my pally, aside from builds and gear, its more about the role they play. I think too much emphasis is placed on what your build is, what gear you should have instead of first knowing what your role is and building your talents around that.
Although there may be generally held positions on how pallies should gear and operate, that does not mean we should be restricted to such. What a boring game WoW would be if everyone played their class strictly by set rules. I believe we should be allowed to explore possibilties. Although unconventional and definitely outside of the box in how Demetrius is geared as a paladin, the character is sought after for raids. Proof would therefore be in the pudding. Osk did well as a tankadin ... not the usual build. (Although patches to make us re-evaluate. )
Personally, I am trying to find the difficult balance of playing this hybrid class. I know that I can deal dps but at the same time need to watch the squishies (mage / priest) to ensure their survivability. Smash, heal, buff, cleanse ... lots of things to watch and I am not yet efficient at that. However, I believe that having paladins who have developed niche areas that are outside of the box can complement each other and succeed in greater ways that cookie-cutter paladins can.
Let's encourage all players to develop their class play-style to where they are enjoying the game and become recognized as more than just another of the class. This can be by playing in a unique way or a standardized way effectively. I think the point of the game is to have fun and develop fun, interactive play with others playing their characters in whatever way they enjoy themselves and are enjoyed by others.
