I had lost my car to Katrina, so my Uncle had decided to give me his old Nissan Maxima. He lives in Seattle and I was working 7 days a week in Louisiana. I couldn't go get the car, so my retired father did me a favor and drove it down here for me. My Uncle forgot to get a Title to get us a bill of sale and it had just been sent in the mail a day or two ago. My insurance company said they couldn't insure me till I had gotten this Title or Bill of Sale. We all figured that I was an excellent driver. I have never been in a wreck in my life; I don't even have a speeding ticket on my driving record. I figured it would be OK to use my car for work since it was that or find another job.
I drove the car with it still on my Uncle's insurance, which he knew about. This morning, on my way to work, I went to make a left hand turn on a green light. I had waited for a car to finish going through the intersection and I then made my turn. It was foggy and I had been living on very little sleep, but I had been doing fine driving wise and had always done fine in the past. The guy who had been somewhat a distance down the road from me, when I had gone to finish my turn, ran into the tail end of my car, spinning me around about 230 degrees. My car is totaled, the entire back end is smashed to pieces and everything I had in my backseat was flung out the window into the middle of the intersection. The police said I could have died, even though I was wearing my seat belt, and they were very surprised that I had come out of this without a single scratch.
I thank God that I am ok, but now I have a huge problem. I am cited for failure to yield because he also had a green light. My Uncle can't afford to claim this on his insurance, which I could afford to pay for, but he wouldn't have it. Now this all means that I have to get filed as an uninsured driver. Now there's a possibility that this other driver is going to sue, even though it's pretty obvious that he was speeding. I don't know what this is going to do to me financially. Like I said, I've never been in an accident before and I have no idea what to expect.
I need prayer that this situation won't become a huge burden for me and that God will help me through it. I also need guidance from God to find out why this happened and what he wants from me. I was saving up to help a friend get back his tools that he lost in Katrina and to help myself to afford to go to college. I'm wondering if maybe these are things that he doesn't want me to do or if he wants me to pursue something else or open a new door. Maybe he wants me to leave my job or maybe he wants me to keep working it- since I can't afford to leave it now. I don't know what God wants, but I would really like to find out. All I know from all of this is that God must have something special waiting for me if he can take me out of that car without a single scratch.
