Raid Suggestion

Our raid leaders are great, I have really enjoyed raiding with Redeemed. It is not easy being RL, often a thankless job.

The WL ADD system is new to me and it seems to work really well.

Sometimes you get to go, sometimes you don't that's just life and no use crying over that, but I have one request.

Could we make it a standard that the RL announces raid is full in guild just for the sake of those who are on standby. I think this would be really helpful.

Again not a criticism - just a suggestion.

Raid leaders should be doing this already. I should also note that when I have a full raid, I announce it and still get complaints that we didn't do it.

That is exactly why I put it under suggestion and not criticism dept.

And definitely people can miss it - this is possible as well - I know for a fact that a few times it wasn't announced - not that this is a problem that you need to blow a gasket over (People make mistakes) - but some people really take it to heart - I have seen people angry in guild chat over it - don't want to see that - thus the suggestion - if every effort is made and people still get upset - well nothing you can do about that.

Thank you for expressing your concern, I understand that some people are gettting upset. Please remember that we have many new raid leaders that are still getting acclimated to their surroundings. I believe that not saying that the raid is full in gchat is a disservice to everyone.

As far as people getting angry over not knowing if the raid is full or not, are they are in vent asking about it? Most, if not all of the raid leaders state in their WL Add Spam that if you have questions to ask in vent. When we put out a WL Add we get a spammed with "WL ADD", "WL WHO", "How's the list look?", "Do I even have a chance at getting in?", "Is there anyway I can bring my dps instead of my tank?", "Need me to heal or dps?", etc., etc. PLEASE, if you have questions ask in vent. It's hard to keep up with 2 conversations in a chat situation, much less 5.

Problem: "I don't have a microphone."
Solution: If you are strapped for cash, Whisper someone who does have a microphone to ask for you. In many cases you can use an old set of headphones plugged into the microphone jack.

All in all, I believe that if someone is truly getting angry over a raid invite they need to rethink why they are getting angry. This is a game and you always have the option of doing something else. Not getting into a raid will NOT stop you from living or breathing. I get that this game is fun and awesome and that raiding is a great place to socialize. If you haven't gotten to raid in a while, please let someone know. We try to be as fair to as many people as possible. I for instance, unless I am completely necessary, I will probably step out of the raid for someone else. There are others that are willing to do that as well. With Patch 3.3 coming soon be aware that raid invites are going to be increasingly harder to do since new content means a larger number of people wanting to raid. Larger numbers means more people not being able to get into a raid.

I hope I'm not coming off as stand offish. That is not my intent. I'm merely trying to explain from my experience what happens during the raid invite process. If you have concerns about how things are being done, I'd encourage you to talk to McFierce. He's the Head Raid Leader/Activity Coordinator(Said with a lisp). Feel free to express your concerns to other leadership (officers/Guild leaders) as well.

Well said, Samboe.

There are so many factors that go into Raid composition. I was afforded the chance to run a 10m Ony and ToC and found that a raid heavy in melee is a recipe for fail in the long run. Everyone needs to also realize that the standards for raiding have been lowered quite a bit. I'm pretty sure the raid leaders aren't doing a gear check before they invite. I know I didn't and still not everyone got into the raid, especially you, Sam.

BTW, I announced once that the raid was full. That could have been missed as well. It should be up to the individual to find out if the raid is full, not the raid leader. They have enough to worry about. Vent is a wonderful tool.

I want to reiterate Samboe's statement,
if someone is truly getting angry over a raid invite they need to rethink why they are getting angry.

Sometimes you get in, sometimes you don't. Look at it as a opportunity to spend time with family or friends, better yet, use it to pray about your attitude.

Again, thanks to all the Raid Leaders.

This is not directed at you, Joki. Just those that rant in GChat on occasion.

Never took any of the whole people need to not be so upset to be directed at me - I appreciate the concern that demonstrates a heart of sensitivity for people

I am not one of the one's who got upset - I just saw it happen - and thought - hmm how do we best prevent this?

I am both a former officer and GM - I know you can't please everyone nor does everyone understand where you are coming from

A raid leader does not look at just one person and say - what do they need? They look at the probability of success for the entire raid - so that means for example if you have too much melee it won't work - or how many undergeared players are you going to take - and even in gear there is a difference because two equally geared players may not have the same skill level and in fact it may happen that the less geared person is playing on an alt that knows more than the geared person - all things have to be weighed

Anyways raiding is a privilege not a right - Being part of the family of God is a privilege which God extends to us through the mercy of cross - but that is not a right - we are not owed salvation it is a gift of God - when we are born again not all of us are given the same spiritual gifts - so it must be too in an online family - different times and seasons for all things

Ultimately you can be a complainer and a whiner about things - but that will only further alienate you from the group and keep you on the outside - true team players work towards resolution and since we are believers we cut a wide swath of mercy all around and extend it to those around us

Also if suggestions do not belong here and you would prefer that they are sent in private messages I have no problem doing that either - still learning the ropes here in Redeemed

My complaint is that they forgot to take Sabelm to spam loot so those of us not in the raid could know how well they were doing. I whispered Samboe and asked him to link loot....but I think Anub was busy chasing him for his pineapple hat so he didn't get a chance to linky.

** end rant.

Oh...and you can fellowship with people in the guild without being in a raid .....try inviting someone new into a party and just hang out doing your own thing ingame and chatting about the weather, your favorite sport, share your testimony. Being in Redeemed is not about raiding its about fellowship.

Forums are an awesome way to bounce ideas around. PM's are meant for what they stand for...private messages. I'm sure that everyone has an idea on what is acceptable to post for everyone's view and what belongs between 2 people (or a selected group).

As far as ideas for raiding being posted here...bring em on! It's always good to get suggestions and feedback as it allows me (and the other officers) to further shape our raiding environment to better suit the needs and wants of the guild. So to you joki (and all the others who have helped contribute over the months/years!) thank you!

Word!

I loved being ninja invited by goblit into a random group of guildies asking, "What are we doing/running?"

Goblit - "Nothing. Just hanging out. Do you like pie or cake?"

Jadice - "Pie ftw"

the rest is WoT too big to post...good times

I'd like to voice my complaint and concern that I haven't raided in a long time. that is all. carry on.
