I want to perform a sort of census on the raiding community regarding the times raids start.

Please answer the poll and keep the spam to a minimum.

even though i havent started raiding i will shortly and now that im in north carolina the start times r different so the earlier we can go is the better for me

I said 5pm ST as I'm on the East Coast and that puts it at 8pm already. So if we raid Kara, Eye, etc... that still gets me going to bed at 11-12ish. 6 am comes quite early btw.

I think most of us who want earlier starts are more concerned about the ending time. Short raids can start later than long ones, while still allowing proper accumulation of real-world rested XP.

For official raid nights, i think should start at 6:00. Most of the west coasters get off work around 5:00, so we wouldn't have time to get home from work and jump on wow if the start time was 5:00.

The other 5 nights a week, I hang out with my wife and daughter until my daughter goes to sleep. So 8:00 works best for me on the "un official" raid nights. But that's just me...

LOL Julienne. Yes indeed, leveling at RL work and school is much easier when fully rested and XP accumulation is doubled...

W00t for "Life is WoW" metaphors!

Howdy all!

If i were to raid then a little after 6 is good unfortunately i work in livermore (YUCK) and live in campbell so for now i have a little drive to deal with

My current work schedule allows me to get off at 4:30 pm. I still voted for 6 because when I'm not feeling well and not sleeping work will allow me to adjust that schedule to a bit later. I would love to raid more and the 6pm start works well for my sleeping and rl rested.

HI all.. 5-5:30pm server time is best for Seathra and I. We got frustrated since we couldn't raid since raids didn't start till 6:30 - 7 server time or even later waiting on a group. We are on EST and I get up at 4:30am (1:30st) for work so it makes it difficult when the raids don't start until 9 or 10pm our time.

I'm with Cassadine. EST, and getting up 4:30am our time once school starts back up in 2 wks. 7pm server, 10pm EST start is obviously very rough on the tail-end, ie getting up with less than 4 hrs of sleep....

This can be a tough issue, but one obvious simple solution :
Start at 5-6pm EST and the East Coasters can carry the torch at the start; sub out the East Coasters for West Coasters later in the night as they log in. Think like baseball pitching staff - it's a team effort. Starters may not be Closers....so what?!? With my old guild, when you signed up to start the raid, you committed to a couple hours. At 2 hrs into the raid, they took a 15 min bio-break and sub-out swap. Done, and up-n-runnin for another couple hrs! Only challenge is having enough tanks n healers at both ends, and it's hard to imagine we couldnt do that on our prime raiding nites.

By the way, for most East Coasters, these concerns dont apply for Fri nite since we dont work Sat.

Well, I really feel for you guys on the East Coast for sure.

Some of you may not remember, however, we have tried to start earlier and the attempts have not been sucessful. At first it was due to having so many on West Coast time that it was the only way to fill teams.

Now to the point of starting earlier. I have no problems but there are two issues.

1. A raid leader willing to start earlier and one that meets the qualifications to be a raid leader. Actually we need two the way we are doing raids on an officer level. (FYI- a few people have been asked to lead EST starts and they have decided not to for whatever reasons)

2. Starting at that time would most likely mean starting a new team from scratch. Sure there would be some of the seasoned raiders. However, what makes a team strong is knowing what the other people are doing and how to adept in the fight.

We, as officers, are not opposed at all to an earlier start. It is just harder than scheduling one and everyone showing up.

im saying 5 st because of school starting back up everywhere , the earlier the better. . there is also a limit for me to be in a raid as my mom is getting on me more so it would help.

well i can only raid on weekends now due to iam working nights mon thru fri and off every weekend and also i don't like to leave in the middle of a raid so i would prefer saturday evening raids if possible.

And then the next week, the West goes in first, clears what it can, and the East picks up next night. That way everyone will get to see everything eventually. (BTW, there are a lot of us who live nowhere near any coast ;) )
