See, there's your problem. The new Macs are absolutely amazing.

As far as all that engineering stuff, I yield. However, I'm gonna bet that 99% of ToJ is not employed in the field of engineering

I'm not saying all this stuff because I'm a yuppy, or because I like the cool metal cases of the G5, or the soft glow of the on button on the studio monitors. I've been around my old roommate for two years; he went from editing video and web graphics and playing games hardcore on a PC to editing and playing on a Mac, and holy crap is there a big difference. I, personally, don't have a good reason to switch from one to another; but the fact that I've never seen this guy get a B.S.O.D. or have to wait 20 minutes for video to render is enough for me.

Also the fact that the new Macs run Windows better than Windows does is an added bonus

And finally, I have seen the video. Many times. I think it's hilarious, but it doesn't change my mind.

Looks like the cult of Steve Jobs just got another follower...sorry guys...

Ok, ok, let's just agree a PC is good ... and a Mac is good. If I had the money, I'd probably buy both.

Ever heard of Windows XP PRO? Now, if you're comparing a G5 with OS X with a Celeron 350 with Windows 95, then yes, I'd have to agree with your statement. But as for me, I'd rather spend less money on a machine that can run practically any peice of software and has almost unlimited amount of support and help on the web. But to be honest, if most of the software out there was for the Mac and they were thousands cheaper, I'd get a G5 in a second. Goose has spoke, none shall respond!

Btw, that card was limited to 99 users.. as soon as it filled it up.. they didn't restock it..
Albert, get your card, then talk. K thx the end.

I probably won't ever buy ATI, unless they make some drastic changes. I've heard horror stories about their firmware/driver upgrades causing cards to overheat and die. Also, they don't have the greatest attitude towards open source. The nvidia drivers for linux are just darling, they work, and work good. If I didn't have to dual boot my computer, I might consider ATI, but prior experience with nvidia is good enough to keep me coming back.

whatever happened to integrated being the way to go...

personally, I think that unless you're an engineer or a software designer or something like that, upgrading vid cards etc. has kinda gotten out of hand. All this time, money, and energy put into a computer just for 10 more fps? Seems a bit rediculous. Also kinda bothers me that people put so much money into this stuff. You could use some of that money to help an unfortunate person, or to buy a Bible or a commentary or something. Computers have really taken priority away from the important things in our lives. When's the last time you took 15 minutes to do devotions over playing a quick round of CS? When was the last time you knew more about the Bible then you knew about the latest geforce card?

Where are your priorities people?

Sheesh. *walks away from pulpit*

Mah, I was going to but it's Friday and I'm tired and I'm at work and I didn't really feel like thinking. But I was going to say "Thanks for the challenge"...does that work?

It's good when: You get a tax return from Mr. Bush.

It's REALLY good when: You don't pay taxes in the first place because you get paid in tips
