Christian Gamers Alliance TeamSpeak 3 Server Opera
Hey, there's a chance I'll be getting tf2 soon and I was wondering if it would be necessary to get a mic if I were to play with you guys. If it's necessary, when you compete, do the people on the other team (If you can hear then) keep their language clean? That's pretty much all I need to know. Thanks!

Joshinator,

If you want to play casually, no mic is required. However, if you want to play on our competitive STA team, I'd say that a mic would be absolutely necessary. As for voice chat being clean, during matches you can only hear guys on your team, not on the other team. Since your team will be full of ToJ members, it had BETTER be clean! :p

For pub play, voice chat is definitely NOT clean, but there are plenty of Christian servers out there (ours and the FISH servers by <cc>< for example) that don't put up with that nonsense. Or you could just disable voice chat for pub play and only use it for STA matches.

Generally, I think it's a great idea for even normal non-scrim players to have a mic. My brother has to relay me a lot of info since all he can use is just headphones when we play together (Gator Missile :p). Even just saying you spotted a Spy is a great help. So necessary, no. But this is one of the games where it's going to be more useful over games like COD or UT.

I would definitely recommend getting one. Even if you don't use it very often it's nice to have for when you are playing a little more seriously. It's a whole lot easier to just say 'spy as pyro' than it is to type it. I know the admins on are server are very good about enforcing language and if you stick to Christian servers you should be fine on language, plus steam has the option of muting specific players if there is someone who offends you.
