Hi Everyone,

I'm sure not many know me but I just joined toj today. I am a strong Christiain from Georgia who attends Valdosta State University and I am one of the leaders for the Baptist Student Union (which is the largest one in Georgia). Today I was playing on the server and toj kidan signed on. I was just having fun, I killed 5 people and I said "owned
tounge.gif
" and he said 'dont be a braggart' quite seriously it seems. This was kind of suprising as this being the first impression of him as well as I did not see anything wrong with what I said, just having fun. Later on I said 'bull crap' which I honestly and truely beleive is perfectly fine. He told me to watch the language and don't use profanity. He wasn't very nice about it. I then explained I didn't get it and that from where I am from (Georgia) there is nothign wrong with saying it, even my pastor says it on occasion, in fact. He then told me my pastor should be ashamed, something to that effect, and I was quite offended by this, making fun of my pastor which I deeply love as he is a very strong Christian and a great caring guy. I just ignored him and tried to keep having fun after this. Someone latered asked me what I said was 'so wrong' and I said 'bull crap' and within 10 seconds he had kicked/banned me from the server. He told me I was also kicked out of toj as well...

This memeber seems very offensive and rude and gives me a bad impression here. His words also were harsh and I really didn't appreciate it as some of it hurt a good deal.

Also great to be kicked out of a Christian community the first day I joined, especially being the strong Christian that I am and have been for a good while.

I just wanted to let you guys know of this issue and that it wasn't very joyful experience.

I guess Ill have to deal with playing on servers with profanity and such now, being kicked out of this community (for no apparent reason, IMO)..

Will

thanks for your feedback, but it would be great if you sent admin problems/member problems to elite (sorry i dont remember his email ATM). I don't wanna make a statement on behalf of ToJ but as an admin we all think differently and sometimes act differently so please talk to Elite,Para or Exodus about this, you can find all of their emails if u search around enough. We'll get this straightened out and Kidan is a great guy I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you. =) I'm from GA and I do see where you come from with the "BC" statement but it was his call.

I mean..people come in with very offensive names, f words, racial phrases...he just asked them to change their name...

I say that one word twice I get kicked/banned...

Something just doesn't seem right

and yes, he did say some pretty offending things, especially about my pastor..

and the name calling, a "braggart"

Again I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you personally. we admins have ways of dealing with everything. We start with warnings no matter what. everything starts at the same level, the names and your comment all have the same effect. If someone didn't change their name then we would punish, but that's another story. Everyone has different limits, like if I was called a "braggart" I probably wouldn't be offended, so I think Kidan was thinking the same thing.

Yes I was quite serious.  The CS Server rules quite clearly state that that style of joking does not belong on the server.  You are not the first member of ToJ that I have chastised for that behaviour on server, and I doubt you will be the last.  but it has no place on server.

Sorry if it seems I don't come across as very nice, but as you said yourself others have been in quite often already being quite profane.  I expect more from a member of ToJ.

At no time was I making fun of your pastor.  Yet he should still be ashamed.  No matter how it may seem in your part of the country, unless you're talking about male bovine fecal matter, that term is an expletive.  As a teacher of the Word, he has a much higher standard to live up to than a 'regular' Christian, and if 'regular' Christians are expected to not use expletives then why should a Pastor not be ashamed for such?

I had already told you to not use that term.  Then after I had told you not to use it, you proceeded to whine about it (which is when I warned that as a member of ToJ, you could be kicked from the server for using it).  Knowing this, you used it again, so I kicked you from the server.  At no time did I say you were kicked out of ToJ, nor did I ban you from the server.

We hold ToJ members to higher standards than those who are not members.  We are to be light and salt to the gaming world.  As such, it does seem that we have a double standard, where we are more lenient to non-members.  You know what, that's the truth.  We are.  Because we expect BETTER from a member of ToJ.

I love how you act completely different infront of everyone and change how it really is around.

Don't worry though, I won't come back to your server because I know some of the type of people who run it now...

On behalf the the staff and members of ToJ, I want to extend an apology for your first experience in ToJ. It's a great community and to further look into this, I'm moving this subject to the admin forums to discuss this in detail. Please reconsider your decision on playing in our server, we'll post back here with what the admins have decided, thank you.

Quote[/b] (TheElite @ Dec. 03 2002,11:19)]For ALL ToJ Members:

1.) You are the 'Salt' of this server. You are the 'City upon the Hill'. Act like it on this server, and while you have the ToJ tag on. You agreed to the charter when signing up with ToJ.
2.) OBEY all admin requests. If they ask you to stop using the AWP, drop it. If they ask you to be quiet, be quiet. Admins: there will be a "Zero Tolerance" policy on ToJ members not listening. Feel free to take affirmative action if necessary.
3.) Just remember, we are not of this world but we are in it. You will come across things you don’t particularly like or agree with but it happens. Learn to deal with these things appropriately...

Failure to obey admin commands and/or server rules can result in a slap, slay or kick...Remember; we are trying to be witnesses but also trying to have fun.

Luckeh 13:

First of all, I would like to say that we are glad that you have requested to be a part of this community. I was, however, somewhat surprised to see that you were a "Christian" and wanted to join ToJ. I remember playing with you several times last week and by some of your comments I would never have known.

I support all of my admins and their decisios. It is true, we all have different tolerance levels and levels of strictness BUT Kidan was only following the rules that have been set forth on the server. I will take a look at the server logs but I can assure you that Kidan neither lied nor changed his story because I was reading the chat while it was occurring. I even asked Kidan who approved of your acceptance in ToJ at the time.

Okay - it's possible that you have not familiarized yourself with the community, environment, server rules and maybe even the ToJ charter. First of all, if an admin asks you to do something then do it! It's that simple. They're not asking you to do a lot, after all it is just a game right? The last thing we need is our own members questioning the validity of our server rules and admins in front of other non-Christians who WILL use your argument as fuel to ridicule our beliefs. We don't need that, we babysit enough as it is.

Second, there is a ZERO tolerance policy on members only because we are to be witnesses unto Him. Kidan believes that saying "bullcrap" is not being a good witness. I don't care if you say "bullcrap" to your parents - however Kidan asked you to not say that, so don't say it. Why argue? Unless the admin is being totally unreasonable you're not gonna win.

With that said - I extend to you another chance to stay a member of ToJ. I would encourage you to read and learn our rules and get to know more of the members. They really are a great bunch and I think what happened was just a small incident that we can all look past.

God bless...
