Pro Gamer Drug Abuse Rampant

That is pretty pathetic. On a slight aside note: my computer simply crashes cause it wants to. Not necessarily because i've been gaming for too long.

Do you consider archery a sport? If so, would you consider an archer an athlete?

How about a marksman?
Shooting a bow loaded with an arrow, hoping to hit a target a certain distance away from you requires loads of skills - balance, steadiness, arm strength and good wrists. Not only those things but real environmental scenarios impact performance too, wind, rain, moving target... all three and more.

It is not the same as aiming a gun with a mouse (if you were trying to make that comparison). Aiming in a game requires considerably less skill, and not only that, but the programs all impact the accuracy of whatever you are shooting one way or another.

One could say that gaming requires lots of elevated reaction training... which it does, I agree. But so does archery, and on a much larger scale.

I am not sure if I would consider archery a sport or not, but it gets considered long before computer gaming does.

PC gaming is a sport but when you go to those extremes is what makes it stupid (just like anything else in life) so dont just call it oxymoron...those people make it an oxymoron.
Definition of Oxymoron as per Merriam-Webster: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness); broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements

He was calling the word used to describe playing computer games competitively - cyber-athlete, an oxymoron, which is not an insult.

Whats so wrong with gaming? why is that not a respectable job. The gamer is doing something he loves to do, so what if your uncle on your moms side laughs at you for it? It irritates me that professional gaming is considered a laugh.

I really don't have a problem with anyone making money playing games. Honest. I have issues with the term "cyber-athlete". I also think calling it a job is being a bit generous. Playing poker for a living is not having a "job". It's gambling on a level that gives you enough money to live off of, if you're lucky. Professional sports however, ARE a job. You get a salary etc. To me it has nothing to do with anyone laughing, heck, I work in a pizza place, who I am to laugh. It's just the terminology that bothers me. And my white-hot hatred for anything with the name "dust" or "aztec"
