Priestly talents...

OK, i know this is discussed to death all over but...
as a NOOB big time, it seems to me that Priests should primarily focus on becoming a major healing force.
(Aside) i have seen all this information about how to be a Shadow priest and it seems to me ... why bother. if you want to do big time PvP, be a warrior or a mage or something, anything but a priest (remember, NOOB here so happy to be corrected)./(Aside)
anyway, my choice of focusing on developing a priest was to be a big help in instances, dungeons etc, not in PvP and not even so much in PvE, but eventually to be a strong support in group events.
all that to ask, if my goal is to be a big time healer, shield former etc. but not so much on the attack side, i would like some suggestions on talent distribution.
Or if i am all wet with the whole concept, i would appreciate any suggestions as to the right way to develop my now lvl 20 priest.

At low lvls pvping doesnt really make a difference between classes. At about 40 everything is different because of how talents at spread. At 60 it just becomes a skill + gear fight. There is no overpowered class at 60 (except warlocks, nerf them), its all a matter of skill, crits and pvp experience (and ofcourse epics!). Also for lvling most people choose a dps build so they can hit 60 faster and then resecp to what they feel like.

Edit: we got some uber priests in our guild I'm sure they had a talent topic going on somewhere, if not I'll post a raiding build that I would use if I had a priest.

You might wanna stick to shadow build as u lvl to 60....You are still the second best healer choice (after holy priest ofcourse). But this is coming from someone who had lvled to 60 pre 1.10 patch...now that holy is buffed u can look at various other alternatives that might be there...

Your best bet is to check out the priest forums on the wow official site.


Worry about raiding build later at 60 or close to it...below is my raiding build atm if u want to know.
