Priest question

This is not so much a question about specs, but more about useage. I know there are a few 40ish priests up and coming and am wondering how many plan to go healing spec or shadow spec?

I have thought about staying shadow spec, but then again it would be nice for other people that have priests be able to play on their alts. I enjoy a shadow priest for my warlock since his damage definately goes up and a shadow priest with healing gear does some wonderful healing using vampiric embrace.

Just curious if we would have enough primary healing available for me to stay shadow and be backup healing.

Had Corn and his shadow priest with us on a run recently and I was gaining 300+ crits. Also at times we were getting 200+ vamperic embrace heals.

I know of atleast one up and coming lock, if she ever gets off her butt and plays her, that would benefit from a shadow priest hanging around.

I know that both Angie (Tinie) and I have priests that we plan on making healing-priests, but we are both around lvl 30.

Short answer, yes I plan to make Salveation a holy/disc priest at lvl 60 or perhaps a few levels before hand if I start making a lot of 5/10 man runs with him.

Long answer, my plan is to eventually have 3+ 60's:

Congnomedrum -- Warrior [Protection specced]
Salveation -- Priest [Holy/Disc specced]
?? -- Mage or Warlock for dps

That way when we need a healer, a tank, or dps I can bring the right class specced just the right way to fit the need for the 5/10 man or raid.

It looks like the guild has become aware of the glaring issue of lack of healing at high lvl instances (special thanks to Anita/Wend for carrying the burden) so there seem to be a LOT of priests on the up and coming, and I suspect a lot will go for healing. If youre wanting to try the shadow, I would say feel free cause healing will soon be well covered

It is very true that the Forgiven DOES have a lack of healing... We have only one active level 60 healpriest... Perin is more or less retired, although he occaisonally gets a summons back from Hawaii.

We have a few good pally healers, but no level 60 restos.

All along, I have planned on switching to holy spec'd when Shebaely gets closer to 60. Although I have thought more about going ahead and doing it now so I can get used to it. I enjoy the shadow spec but considering the ONLY time Shebaely is actually fighting is with Samage, I could get away with going Holy now.

But really, I don't mind either. I want to be able to help the guild it in whatever way possible. So I am open.

The guild definately needs healers!! I love playing a healer and even my up and coming druid (lvl 50) is a resto druid. I have Ryer at 60 (hunter) and Weeamber approaching at lvl 53 or so (warlock) but given the option, I think I would choose to play a healer.

I'm trying to phrase this right......I think it's important that we get some healers who like to heal. I have no issues with non-healer pallies or shadow priests, I think that's great!! I have no issues with feral or balance druids, again I think they're great!! What the guild really needs are people who enjoy playing a healer. We have a bunch of 60 priests (Perin, Kelarra, Zebidiah, Reason and Wend - and until recently Malcolm) but I think with the exception of Zebidiah right now each of the people who have those toons are enjoying things other than healing.

I will restate that I think that people pay for Wow and should be able to play whatever they want whenever they want too. However, for the furtherance of end game instances for guild members I hope some people discover that they want to play healers;)

I know what you mean, and agree completely. In fact, that's why I'm leveling IMCU up the way that I am. I made Kurdran to be a prot warrior because as the time, my old guild didn't have any tanks. I don't necessarily enjoy healing (i'd rather be a damage class) but I don't mind doing it, if i have a character that is geared up to do it.

I tried to heal a few times on my druid before my respec (i was 1/2 resto, 1/2 feral) but that didn't go so well..for several reason... but i really think you have to be spec'd to do it right....

Yeah I agree that you have to be specced right @60. I had a hybrid build for my warrior (31 arms/20 prot), but I found that I wasn't good at playing a dps role, nor did have the same abilities I now have as a protection warrior.

i have a couple coming up - a pally at 38, and in plan to leave her around low 40's for helping with dungeons at that lvl. hunter is my end-gamer, and then priest way down, that will be leveled with jasons mage. however, hes away for the summer so my priest... just kinda waits. when i play him i enjoy just waking care of the squishy mage tho :D and he'll totally level as a holy/disc since I'll never have to solo

I actually love to do healing. I have the 60 hunter for damage dealing moods, and am having great fun with my feral / resto mix druid (currently lvl 45).
I now carry two complete (down to the trinkets) sets of gear - one to get maximum INT with some +healing thrown in (the +healing DOES make a difference even at this lvl).
Second set is focused on Stam for tanking, as I am continually surprised by the number of warriors in PUG's who don't even sunder the mobs they are tanking. With some minor changes, my tanking gear turns into my cat gear (little more strength and a +2 crit hammer I found).

I really like being versatile, and filling whatever role is needed in a group, and in my opinion, healing is a fun part of that.

P.S. - I also have a 'up and coming' priest - lvl 19 atm, who will be straight healing after a while.

For your cat set, usually +AGI is better than +STR. If you read the tooltip for cat form, it says that your attack power is increased by (some number, I think it's 180) plus your agility. So agility has a 1:1 increase in your attack power. STR plays a smaller role.

AGI also increases your Crit chance and Dodge chance...both important for a cat.

If you're playing Bear form, you may not want that dodge% (being hit=more rage...rage=special abilties), but the AP and Crit% would still be nice. However, for bear form, STR plays a bigger role than AGI in regards to AP.
