Potential sponsors?

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
As mentioned in a previous thread, Tribe of Judah is currently seeking corporate sponsors for our next dedicated game server. I hope to draft and polish a letter to potential sponsors this week, but in the meantime I have opened a Paypal account to receive donations from individual members.

I'd also like members to suggest companies you think would be appropriate for and interested in sponsoring the next Tribe of Judah game server. If you have a suggestion, please post it here. If possible, include the company's web site URL and contact information for the person or persons over corporate sponsorship.

Also, if you're interested in contacting businesses regarding sponsorships, you may want to volunteer for the Fundraising Campaign Manager position briefly described in this thread.

Mmmmmm... I don't think Christian Radio Stations would be interested in hosting us? I doubt it. I was thinking of KLOVE;AIR1;etc...

No idea.

The Christian Team Servers organization has several sponsors, including Alienware, nVIDIA, Ultra Products, BFG Servers, and Computer Geeks. Perhaps secular businesses are not as hesitant to sponsor Christian servers as I first believed.

It was also mentioned in last night's staff meeting (I forget who mentioned it; my apologies) that the Shepherd's Guide, a list of Christian businesses, might be of help.

As for Christian Gaming Network, they're probably also seeking donations and wouldn't be up for buying advertising on our servers or donating funds. But, as I've said before, I'm not ruling out anything yet.

Yup... We would need to put up some affiliate tags/banners on our site for them. :p

But I remember being in their forums. They have so many OFFICIAL sponsers... :p

We should ask!

[cTs] is a HUGE community... But CGA is about as big, that's my guestimate.

Hey I was surfing on HDTV website and they have a banner advertisement link on the 5th, 10th forum post as you scroll through the posts. If you could post an advertisement link to pricegrabber.com I would go through it to purchase items of which cga could get some funds from. I do buy quite a lot of items. If you get a penny a click it would add up. Newegg.com would also be a good link (of course pricegrabber could link to that site). A link to Amazon.com ?? You all make the call this is just a suggestion.

Placing advertisements on the forums wouldn't be an option as these forums are shared by all Christian Gamers Alliance affiliates. We might be able to create an account with pricegrabber.com and post a link on our web site, but not on the forums. If pricegrabber.com makes a text link available, we could create an account and users could add it to their forum signatures.

It's something I can check into.

It's been my experience that the Amazon affiliate program is not effective in raising funds. CGA has an affiliate account with Amazon and we haven't seen one penny from it yet.

That's true -- especially when we need hundreds of dollars. You only get roughly $5 (give or take a couple bucks) out of a $100 transaction.

Google AdSense is another thing we should look in to. I have this plan running on my site and it does pretty well.

There are even vB hacks which will actually put the Google AdSense right under the first post of threads and stuff, so it would rock if we could get that going once vB 3.5 comes out. I'm sure that with a forum this large, we could nab a few dozen clicks a day and be on our way to the server in no time.

If you want more info, Tek, just let me know. =)

Also, there's the fact that these are CGA forums, not ToJs. As such, any funds generated by forum ads should be directed towards CGA functions.

I'm sure I can hack it -- show all the same ads, but depending on if a ToJ forum is being viewed, dump the cash into the ToJ account, otherwise into the CGA account (or other affiliates, etc.)

Something to think about. =)

That may be a good idea for a secondary supplemental income, but Google Adsense is not something we can count on. It is too variable. Also, you don't even get a check back until quite a bit has been purchased through your links.

Has anyone thought about making a separate forum for Tribe of Judah? ToJ has a separate website and everything but the forum is still hosted by CGA. I am experienced at setting up and administering a YaBB forum like the one on my website. It is free unlike VBulletin and has a great community for support. There are also various modifications that can be added. Let me know if you are interested in this. If so, I'll look into the possibility of porting the messages over to a YaBB forum.

No, all you have to do to earn income is click the link -- that's it. You get a check monthly if the balance is over $100.

Just having people click on the links gets you hardly anything. It's when people buy something off of one of those links that you actually get a few dollars. Link clicking only amounts to maybe a few cents each.

Heh, he probably got caught. I'm pretty sure that practice is against the Terms of Service for every online ad revenue system out there.

CGa exists to give Christiang gaming groups a place to host their forums and save the burndern of instlaling/patching/maintaining the forums themselves.
Aye, well said. :)

Hosting the Tribe of Judah forums on CGA web space and "next to" other CGA affiliates such as 7F and GFC also provides a more well-developed community.

Tribe of Judah originally hosted its own forums (using Ikonboard) on its own web space. When Ikonboard forums were established on the Christian Gamers Alliance site, we ported over all ToJ forum user accounts and threads. We then took the ToJ forums offline. This gave us a "running start" to a large forum community.

Looking back, I can confidently say that we made the right decision. :)
