A British Columbia man living in a polygamist sect has 25 wives and 101 children with brides as young as 15, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police allege.

Winston Blackmore, 52, is charged with one count of practicing polygamy as a member of the Bountiful sect, which has about 1,000 members.

In an affidavit filed with the provincial Supreme Court, the RCMP alleges since 1976, Blackmore had nine child brides, four of whom were 15, CTV reported. In Vancouver, he told reporters “that’s wrong” as documents were being filed for a pre-trial hearing.

The RCMP named four of the brides who allegedly had their first children by Blackmore before they turned 18. Federal law was changed in 2008 to raise the age of marital consent to 16 from 14.

His lawyers have said his defense will be the ban on polygamy violates Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for April, but Blackmore’s lawyers are trying to have the case thrown out on procedural issues.

I was worried about getting banned for this, but lets see...

BTW, it is Illegal in Canada, but not very strict.

And you can easily Google it as some links come with offensive stuff of that.

Oh good, a link from our news channel.

That news snippet makes my head hurt.

I'm watching a documentary about the Polygamist son's.

I was wonder what are your reactions/responses to this, Polygamist, that has 25 wives and 101 kids.

My response: 1 wife is enough for me. Wouldn't want to deal with 24 more wives.

From a Biblical perspective, there's nothing overtly wrong with polygamy, provided that the husband can care for his set of wives. Basically, (except in certain cases discussed below) the Bible does not say "Though shall not be a Polygamist." That said, the Bible shows time and again where it causes trouble (see Gen 16:1-6, 1 Sam. 1:2-8 & 1 Kings 11:1-8). Now those two cases I mentioned above are two explicit notes on polygamy. The first can be found in Deut. 17:14,17 where God forbids kings to have multiple wives and 1 Timothy 3:2 where Paul is describing the requirements for being a Bishop/Deacon/elder.

Finally, one must also look at the text, and realize something important related to this concept. That is that the majority of the Men of God had only one wife. Additionally, there is not a New Testament example of a godly Christian having more than one wife. One must take that example of God's will, and those that God chooses to use as one will.

My husband tried using that logic once with me. He learned pretty quick that the real answer is because the first wife can smack you upside the head harder than you think. ^^

They better not put him in jail. With that many people he has a small militia to storm it >.< :p .

You have to reach critical mass on wives. Once you get enough violence itself is the trick. You get each wife mad at another and then you can agree with each one covertly as you juggle and redirect their anger away from you. :p
