Political discussion forum?

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
What do you all think of creating a separate forum for political discussion, like the forum we have for religious discussion? Then we'd cover both topics that people say you should never talk about with friends. :D

I disagree strongly. Mostly because we are constantly bombared with TV ads, poster signs, and mudslinging enough just for local and national elections. The religious discussion in my point of view is there so we can better explain where we stand and why and to help people learn so that maybe God's light will shine on them. I personally do not want to hear why
someone here thinks I need to support who ever. Honestly in my thinking God has already made the decision way before we ever thought about who we wanted to support.

Please do not quote etc me and tell me why I should think this or that about politics. I am just giving Tek my reasons for not wanting to have a political thread.

i disagree as well, in this i would have to say there needs to be seperation of church and state lol.

There is just to much negative influence with political discussions and its not needed in cga i dont think.

I think we just need to ban the poster who signed up for just the one political speech post. :)

As for a separate area just to discuss politics? No, I don't think it's necessary. There's a lot of good political websites out there, it's just politicizing something that is good and pure on it's own (the CGA, in case I wasn't clear.) Politics have a way of muddying up things, and I'd prefer to keep it far away from this last refuge from the insanity.

I don't think it needs its own forums, but I don't see the harm with political discussions taking place here in general.

I think it's a good idea. This forum isn't exactly clogged with political discussions, but it would be nice to have a place to send the ones that invade this place.

I also think a 18-and-over restriction on the discussions would be wise, because it would keep it between registered voters only. :)

Id have to agree, 10-15 yr olds would be full of opinions and probably not facts, it would be nice if they could see, but could not post on the issues. Why? I would rather they see the issues discussed on this forum then other misleading sites...

YES! I agree! We should do everything we can to keep people who can't vote ignorant so that when do can vote they have no intelligent opinions or experience understanding political issues.

(Do we really have a lot of 10-15 year olds on these forums? Cause I've noticed 15-17 year old more then any other minors, and gosh-golly-darn it those 17 year olds have a say in our next President.)

Well, so far, it seems the majority of those replying think that a Political Discussion forum is unnecessary. I guess as long as people start flame wars on political topics, we'll leave things as they are.
