PASTOR'S CORNER

Very cool...be careful about using geocities as a place to store pictures and add links elsewhere (like here in the forums) --- I got my geocities account cancelled for violating those terms of service, without any warning.

Gotta a question...

would there not also be the influences of satan and the world in the Church?

Gen

Yes, but the "complete" church would only be influenced by the Holy Spirit:
NIV John 4:23 said:
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

If we're worshiping in spirit, and worshiping is our first job we're created for, then we're being doing everything else in the spirit too.

:D
Hope that explains some things.

Back in the day...

Back in the day when houses, buildings or any other structure was built (with a foundation), there was something that would keep the whole thing together. The foundation was designed to place pressures and resistance on a stone that would sit in a specific corner. Later as technologies grew, this "corner stone" would become a memorial marker that, for example, things would be placed inside of to commemorate the building itself.

So, why am I babbling on about corner stones??? Well...

He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together.
(emphasis added)

Ok, now you know the corner stone of our lives, yet this puzzled me when I read it. I thought I remembered Christ saying that He was the foundation on which the church was built. Yet as I listened to the Teacher, I learned that it works this way, as the scritpure gives...

Here's a word model...

YOU = building for residense of God(WOOT)
Apostles/Prophets (possibly including todays teachings, I'm still asking that question) = foundation
CHRIST = Corner stone

Now if you remove Christ from that image, everything tumbles away. This is another reason why Christianity is not a religion. Our entire belief hangs in Christ. Without Christ we'd have no faith at all.

Now here comes the cool part, take the word model and flip it upside down...

CHRIST
Apostles/Prophets
YOU

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, (5) so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
&
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

You see, as the Body of Christ, it still applies, and btw answers my question about present day teachers of the Word.
Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, Evangelists, and Apostles are all called by God to teach/edify/build the Body of Christ so that they may spread the Gospel (Ephesians 4:11-12).

WOOT TO THE MASTER!!!!!!
:D
