While it's not relevant to this thread *cough* the server will likely be running a Linux distro.

o0o open debate, I vote for CentOS! Debian is nice, but I doubt the admins want to learn a different system

Out of the folks who would probably be put in charge of the ToJ Server, they know both linux and windows.

In the end, does it matter what OS it runs?

There are a number of issues which would be relevant to which os we choose. The website is built on PHP so it doesn't matter there. What it ultimately comes down to is which games are we able to run on the OS versuses which games we want to run.
