Opinions: Should we or shouldn't we ...

It has been asked previously what affiliation or denomination The Forgiven is by those on the Terenas realm server forum, I would like to list a range we have. The point here is NOT to create an exhaustive list and its not to show exclusivity, I think there might be some value (how much value, not sure), more importantly I think its an opportunity to show that Jesus transcends the normal bountaries and binds us all together. Get them thinking about relationship with Christ versus the church or denomination one goes to. What do you guys think? It is worth adding to the FAQ?

I think it would be good to show what range of denominations we have so that people will understand it is not the enrollment in a particular church/denomination that binds us together, but the relationship we have with Jesus Christ.

I agree that it would be an interesting list, completely un-important but it might be interesting for a non believer.

Sounds good to me. If people want to start posting, I will add them to the FAQ as they come in. I'll start. I'm a Southern Baptist.

Hmm...I am not sure what my church is classified as:)...we go to a bible based church that is charasmatic:)...y'all try and classify it...lol.

I think that's a great idea. Personally, I am Southern Baptist, but my church really isn't run like any other Baptist church I have ever been to. For one thing, they aren't stuck in a traditional rut and don't have committees for committees for committees. However, I'll go to worship service and I can just feel His presence there. It's so awesome and I just plain love going to church.

I attend and pastor at a baptist church and attend Phoenix Seminary, which is sponsored out of Scottsdale Bible Church.

Technically, I go to a conservative baptist church which is a loose fellowship of churches in the baptist tradition. Theologically, we would be very close to a Southern Baptist Church but governmentally more like a non-denominational church.

I have done quite a bit of studying of the different types of churches, leading back to the protestant reformation in 1517 and the original four branches of protestantism ... the development of the church in America leading to the nondenominationl movement (christian church, bible church, community church) in the early 1800s and pentecostal movemement in the early 1900s. (start sermon) More importantly, I have studied in more detail the development of the early church in the book of Acts and we all find our roots in the church described in Acts 2:42-47. This is the earliest description of the new testament church. My oh my, we have drifted far away from the devotions they had. Instead of being devoted to the apostles teaching and fellowship we are devoted to entertainment of self and personal peace and affluence (end of sermon). I don't write this to boast but to offer to answer any questions you might have about the differences we see in the church today.

The church is still God's one and only plan on this early and it will prevail. (Matt 16:18)

"My oh my, we have drifted far away from the devotions they had. Instead of being devoted to the apostles teaching and fellowship we are devoted to entertainment of self and personal peace and affluence" - Preach it brother, it won't fall on deaf ears here!

I like casserole.

Grew up Mennonite Brethren but lead worship at a "Community Church" that has it's roots in the United church via charismatic movement into it's current form.

btw, my name in WoW will be chickenmilker...don't get scared if you see me playing online with Allanon. Look forward to getting to know the lot of you! (10 day Trial time starts............now!)
