I did some playing around with various things on the website I'm working on for my church.

I played around with photoshop and changed the icon in the top right hand corner (I edited a clipart graphic that my wife uses for the Sunday morning songsheets).

I also played around with the include command that was posted in the last thread and I eliminated the iframe and just used tables.

I haven't had a chance to test it in any browser except for IE 5 & 6, but I don't think it should be a problem. (I'll be testing it later)

I think it looks best at 1024x768 still, but I tried to make it look alright when viewed at 800x600 (I sure hope there aren't a lot of people still using 640x480)

Anyway, additional comments, critiques, and suggestions are wanted.  (please feel free to point out any spelling or grammer errors that I may have missed -- notepad doesn't do spell checking

Looks good!

According to most stats I've seen 800x600 is dominant and 640x480 is rarely used. If they do use 640x480 they are used to scrolling anyway

beautiful, really.

on the "Ministries" segment, the bottom footnote ("please contact us...") is unique to that page only, so the design isn't quite uniform. However, I very much like the look of the horizontal bar at the end of the page - gives it a clean look, better than the other sections, I think, so instead of removing it from the Ministries segment, I think you could find a way to add that little horizontal bar w/ comment at the end of the other stuff, for the uniformity, and for the classyness of that look.

dude, your site looks great! first word that comes to mind is "rustic", almost, and very smooth, easy on the eyes, mellow, but also warm.

I might also add - for the title image, choose a less loopy cursive - its hard to read for some people (including me, and I know how to read cursive...

a graceful print would be nice. but remember to keep that whole graceful, classy look that you're accomplishing spectacularly smooth across the board.

btw...

Thanks, you all pretty much confirmed points that I had been thinking about as well.

I chose the particular font that I used because my wife uses it on our Sunday morning songsheets (she also uses the lighthouse clipart file -- so I just edited that to suit my needs)

I switched from the Slalom font to the Vivaldi font. I want something elegent, yet laid back at the same time. Fancy, but not too fancy.

As for the footer, I was thinking I liked having something at the bottom of all the pages as well. I guess it adds closure to the page. I deleted the statement from the ministries files and added it to my footer (this #include stuff is very cool and makes editing things SO much easier -- thanks again to whoever tipped me off to it).

Thanks again for the comments, you've all been a big help.
