Online multiplayer games with low or no learning curves

I was trying to think of a game to play online with my wife earlier tonight, but all I could come up with was a few Yahoo Games like Literati or Pool.

What else is out there?

I'm looking for something free or very cheap with online multiplayer features, a very low or no learning curve, and something that doesn't have ads or DRM plastered all over it.

First-person shooters are right out. That includes Nexuiz, Quake Live, and other free FPS titles.

Any suggestions?

And just to clarify: I'm asking about PC games, not console games.

www.AQ.com is awesome fun when with a friend and there is literally tons to do on a free account, no need to pay.

They added a new tutorial (noob) zone that explains the game quickly.
