Oh, it appears you've purchased the "foolscreen" edition

I hastily picked up Serenity on DVD in the store today, completely forgetting about checking which format it was in. I got home and discovered that I had indeed purchased the full screen edition, referred to on one prominent entertainment website as "foolscreen."

I don't actually have a 16:9 viewing ratio TV, but "fullscreen" cuts off the edges of the film, so your perspective is somewhat hampered.

Does anyone else have a disdain for fullscreen? Does anyone else care? Has anyone seen Serenity? Do you like Egg Nog?

Full Screen movies are the bane of my existence.

My brother-in-law got me the Harry Potter boxed set last year for Christmas and it was in full-screen. Unfortunately I had opened the evil box and was watching the movie before I noticed.

A few of my movies has a title screen where you can select which mode you would like to watch it in, or come with two dvd one for each screen type.... if only everyone was smart

I almost always prefer widescreen. Air Force One is one exception where full-screen is better. It was actually filmed in the 4:3 ration and then was edited for the movie theater screen.

I always buy widescreen unless the movie does not have a widescreen format. Some of the classic disney remakes only come in full screen. I do have a nice 52" DLP HDTV and it does a nice job with fullscreen movies. They are not distorted when they are stretched to fit the aspect. There is a setting that will stretch it to fit. But this TV has a setting that does not stretch the center of the picture (where you focus anyway) but stretchs the edges. Becuase there are no faces at the edges, or your attention is not at the edges, you don't notice it.

i have an old style big screen tv so full screen actually works quite well for me
