Ok so my cell phone contract's almost up and I'm looking at what I'm going to go with next. Right now I'm thinking Cingulair so if anyone has it right now leave your thoughts on it too. Now I'm looking at the phones and none of them are really appealing to me outside of the 500 dollar ones that are brand spanking new. Unfortunatly I don't have the money or the time to wait for them to come down in price, and I don't want to settle for a phone I'm only so so about since that's how I got my current phone when the one I wanted it was randomly discontinued when I bought my phone only to be advertised in BestBuy's ad the next week and left me with a phone that ended up needing to be replaced 4 times within 2 weeks a couple months in.

Ahem, pardon the rant.

So this is what brings me to my looking at the N-Gage QD, that's the new version that fixed all the complaints about the original for the uninformed. It can easily be found for 100 US or less so it won't break me significantly in the pocket. Now with everything I'd heard in the first few months of the launch I wouldn't have gone near it with a ten foot pole, but opinions seem to be really shifting about it with quality games starting to come out. Even Penny-Arcade, two very adamant opponents of it, are giving the N-Gage it's due as evidenced by this comic and this newspost.

For anyone wondering what my reasons for thinking N-Gage are here's the main ones. Right now I'm driving my girlfriend to and from work pretty much everyday for a variety of reasons. Now this wouldn't be so bad but it's almost an hour away from my house and it just doesn't make sense for me to go home and back again. So obviously a phone that can game is obviously a huge plus since I can't justify the purchase of a SP or DS. The games are acctually starting to become seriously good with the likes of Jungle Storm, Pocket Kingdom, and Colin McRae Rally, and games like Worms and Elder Scrolls coming up. The fact that it's bigger doesn't bother me since I'm wanting a multifunction phone the size of the Sidekick or the new Blackberry anyway but T-Mobile is evil, not really there's worse but it's been far from stellar, and I always am wearing pants with cargo pockets big enough to carry it in. Anyway since I spend so much time in the car something I can use a good Bluetooth headset with is a bigger concern over holding it up to my head.

So if we have any N-Gage owners, especially of the QD, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the system in general, the games, the graphics, the Arena Multiplayer, how it is as a phone, and anything else you feel like sharing. Cheers.

Also anyone who knows of a good site for cell phone reviews is welcome too. I've never found anything decent other then Cnet's coverage, but that's always left alot to be desired to me. Oh, and prefereably North American based as opposed to UK/EU based or whatever else since the phones are different between the two.

Ah bump bump bump, ba ba ba ba ba bump.

Comeon hasn't anybody even tried one of these suckers somewhere? Ah well any opinions on Cingulair and it's phones are quite welcome.

I can't offer an educated opinion on the N-Gage, but I do subscribe to Cingular's wireless service. I have a LG C1300 phone and I rather like the phone. It's difficult to find games built for it since Cingular tries to limit your choices to their pay downloads, but web hosting service, a .htaccess file, and the Wireless 500KB option takes care of that. Other than that inconvenience, it's spiff.

But, enough about the phone. The service itself is good, though I wouldn't call it great. Unfortunately, Cingular is the only company that offers the features I needed when I signed up for the plan. Sprint was a second choice, but they nickel and dime you for useful features. I researched and dismissed Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

Since the cellular industry changes far more quickly than most, I would say do your research and choose the company that best suits you. For the phone, I would honestly recommend getting whatever phone is cheapest with a 1-year or 2-year agreement (1-year, if you can get it) and spend the $80 on a GBA SP. If you can wait until January, you might find that Nintendo drops the price on the GBA SP to move them out and shift their focus to the DS.

N-Gage? Nah. Skip it. From the little I've seen, games on the GBA SP are far better. And besides, the N-Gage doesn't offer Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo--the greatest multiplayer puzzle game EVAR. That game alone is reason to buy a GBA SP.

Yea maybe I will if I can get a decent trade in value off my GBA and some of my original/color games. I'd go with the Sony Ericsson T637 which is $40 after rebates and is the "sequel" to the phone I originally wanted last year. Too bad it ends Christmas day, grr, oh well maybe they'll drop prices after Christmas. Now if only there were decent sports games for the GBA...

Multiplayer for something like this is moot for me since I never know anyone ever who's had any of these kind of things for me to play with. Now playing it on the Playstation with friends was fun, I've done that.
