Ok first of all let's avoid any baseless N-Gage sucks spa or I'm nubberize you.
Ok so my cell phone contract's almost up and I'm looking at what I'm going to go with next. Right now I'm thinking Cingulair so if anyone has it right now leave your thoughts on it too. Now I'm looking at the phones and none of them are really appealing to me outside of the 500 dollar ones that are brand spanking new. Unfortunatly I don't have the money or the time to wait for them to come down in price, and I don't want to settle for a phone I'm only so so about since that's how I got my current phone when the one I wanted it was randomly discontinued when I bought my phone only to be advertised in BestBuy's ad the next week and left me with a phone that ended up needing to be replaced 4 times within 2 weeks a couple months in.
Ahem, pardon the rant.
So this is what brings me to my looking at the N-Gage QD, that's the new version that fixed all the complaints about the original for the uninformed. It can easily be found for 100 US or less so it won't break me significantly in the pocket. Now with everything I'd heard in the first few months of the launch I wouldn't have gone near it with a ten foot pole, but opinions seem to be really shifting about it with quality games starting to come out. Even Penny-Arcade, two very adamant opponents of it, are giving the N-Gage it's due as evidenced by this comic and this newspost.
For anyone wondering what my reasons for thinking N-Gage are here's the main ones. Right now I'm driving my girlfriend to and from work pretty much everyday for a variety of reasons. Now this wouldn't be so bad but it's almost an hour away from my house and it just doesn't make sense for me to go home and back again. So obviously a phone that can game is obviously a huge plus since I can't justify the purchase of a SP or DS. The games are acctually starting to become seriously good with the likes of Jungle Storm, Pocket Kingdom, and Colin McRae Rally, and games like Worms and Elder Scrolls coming up. The fact that it's bigger doesn't bother me since I'm wanting a multifunction phone the size of the Sidekick or the new Blackberry anyway but T-Mobile is evil, not really there's worse but it's been far from stellar, and I always am wearing pants with cargo pockets big enough to carry it in. Anyway since I spend so much time in the car something I can use a good Bluetooth headset with is a bigger concern over holding it up to my head.
So if we have any N-Gage owners, especially of the QD, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the system in general, the games, the graphics, the Arena Multiplayer, how it is as a phone, and anything else you feel like sharing. Cheers.
