Noise Trade is a great site that allows you to download up and coming, indie, popular, and other music for absolutely free. You can choose to donate if you want. I first heard about it because Thousand Foot Krutch was advertising for a few remixes that they wanted to get out.
Anyway, I spent an hour on it this morning just browsing through artists. All you have to do is provide your email and you get a link to download the music, and an offer to donate to the site and artist.
I downloaded almost 6 hours of music to listen to. I wasn't sure if I liked all the artists, but since it was free I downloaded the music anyway, and I have it playing while I'm doing some programming.
I have to say, I am extremely impressed. I really like listening to great artists that are not very well known yet, and also are really creative and don't fit the mainstream mold.
