No listening to the poor, no help for me?

Proverbs 21:13 GNB

"If you refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, your own
cry for help will not be heard."

Is this verse saying if I don't sow seed then God won't help
me with anything?

Now I know about the verse about Simon the sorceror
which is in Acts 8:18-24 where Simon the Sorceror was
trying to buy God's gift with Money and Peter was not
happy with Simon the Sorceror.

I think it means something along the lines of "If you're selfish, don't expect others to give when you wont give to them."

God just doesnt shut you out, that is not His way according to the Bible. Christ died for sinners, not for sinners that listen.

Caleb: Not everyone is able to put something in the offering plate. I've lived through several situations where I wasn't working and thus had no monetary gift to give the Lord. While not having a job was difficult on my self-esteem at times, it didn't impair my relationship with the Lord. I was working hard to find a job and worked to give what intangible gifts to Him I could.

This passage from 2 Corinthian, starting in verse 6, says it more succinctly than I can:

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
Note that the verse says "He supplies seed to the sower." Giving begins with an attitude of the heart, not with placing money in an offering plate (or tray or basket).

When you give to God--whether it be your time, talents, or finances--do so cheerfully and you will see Him bless you.
