Night Elf Druid Advice

I may or may not keep this character and may or may not even buy the game, but assuming that I do... what kind of strategy should I use when leveling up my Druid? I'm not very knowledgable about the game at all yet but I understand we have different skill trees. Is that correct? If so, I want to make sure that I'm not wasting points too early or anything of that nature.

I went to my trainer once and learned an armor buff spell. I am Level 3. That's as far as I've gotten. Hoping you all can point me in the right direction before I go any further down a wrong path. Thanks in advance!

If you like healing, roll a druid. I've run into people who are in mid levels and don't like the healing roll. They in for a surprise at end game. As for leveling its a tough thing as a druid. I had my brother, a.k.a my "pet mage" to level with. I've been fully restoration druid from start. Personally I have no cat skills that I've bought. Its either been bear form or casting. If you plan it right u can be a great druid...check out the druid forums, especially the stickies here...

I've found levelling as a solo druid to be fairly good. The advantage of a druid is versatility. My druid is 42 now.

For talents, spec how you enjoy playing. If you group a lot and like healing, go restoration. If you solo a lot, the feral tree is handy. Personally, I solo a lot and use a combination of feral and restoration. How you fight is dependant on the circumstances. Bear form if you're getting mobbed, cat form is great against casters, etc.

I have recently started a NE druid and I am at lvl 15 at the moment. Pickup skinning and leatherworking as skills. When you hit 10, you can start the quest series to get bear form. Do it asap. Bear form really helps you with grinding through the mobs. Once you get bear form, you will have to learn the strategy of bear form for damage and night elf form to heal. Once you pick that strategy up, I have found that I have very little down time between mobs.

Druids should be fairly easy to level. They are a hybrid class, and the most versatile hybrid class in the game. You have feral for damage, bear for tankage and bipedal (for lack of a better term) for healing. You are your own group so to speak.

In groups, you can use your skills to shore up any weaknesses in the group by changing form. The group needs more damage, poof you go feral. Need more healing, you can do that to. The group needs to take a bit more damage without dieing, hello bear.

In the end game instance though, expect a massive respec into restoration. In the instances like Molton Core, Blackwing Lair, Onyxia's Lair and to a lesser extent, Zul'Gurub, Blackrock Spire, Scholo, Stratholme, you will be relegated into the healing cycle. You don't loose cat or bear form, you will just likely not use them as much.

Healing in high end and end game instances is an interesting yet stressful challenge themselves. You find yourself not looking at only 5 health bars, but maybe 10 or even more. In molton core, you may be watching your parties health but also have a window with all the warriors on the screen watching their life bars. Or running a 15 man UBRS may see you cross healing a couple groups because group two doesn't have a healer.

They're other classes besides Druids

Oh odd?

Why would you want to play them?

<shakes his head in disbelief>
