Hey guys! I have played warhammer with redeemed and posted here a month or so ago about thinking of trying wow. Well, I am taking the plunge! Haha. I just got the game and I'm a little unsure of which class to play. (thinking of hunter, paladin or priest). I just wanted to take a chance to say hi and Happy Christmas to every one! I will hopefully see some of you guys in game in the next few days and I'm hoping I can get a guild invite. Any tips or suggestions you guys have for a new player would be great! Thanks a lot guys and enjoy the holiday. = )

Welcome!

What class did you play in Warhammer? Do you prefer the melee? stand in back and lob in some dps? healing?

I think I need a ranged dps who can heal but still top damage charts while meleeing without ever breaking stealth. Preferably one with a pet option. = )

I played runepriest in war. I think either role could be fun, dps or healing.whatever I choose I'm sure I'll enjoy it, just all the classes look really cool.is there one that is typically concidered more difficult to play? I always like a challenge.
 
if difficulty is measured by who gets blamed the most often for group failure, I would go for a healer or a tank :)

unless your DPS is flat out bad, as long as you don't DIAF(rocks, spines or other projectilish kind of things) the pure damage classes are fairly easy (e.g. mage, lock, rogue, hunter)

if you want general flexibility...

druids: tank, melee dps, ranged dps, heal
shaman: melee, ranged, heal
priest: heal, ranged dps
 
hunters are flat out EZ mode now. blizz took the fun away from em by taking out auto shot clipping. they do alot of DPS, but IMO they are no fun now.

Thanks for the thoughts! I still don't know yet haha. I'm away with family today so I'll decide when I actually get in game later. Looking forward to playing with you guys. = )
 
warlock fits the has pet, ranged dps, but doesn't heal..nvm. :)
 
hunters heal our pets =P
actually unlike masta (hes a hunter hater now) hunters arent bad. They are really easy to lvl but do have a lil skill involved and are in my opinion enjoyable.
you can try out the dif classes lvl them up a bit and see which you enjoyed the most. thats what i did
o btw if your a late night player hunters are great cause you can kill things while your half asleep cause your pet tears them apart as you sit there pretending to be awake!

Life tap gives you X amount of mana for X amount of HP.

You are thinking of siphon life or life drain. One of which is unreliable and the other can only be gotten from the Affliction tree (which was very very fun IMO...)

Btw: I noticed there are some vendors around selling weapons and armor and bags and stuff but they seem kind of expensive. Would it help me a lot at the beginning to try to same up for some of these things?

Never buy armor/bags from a vendor they are way overpriced. Ask someone in guild to make you a few good bags and donate some money lol. Leveling is fairly easy these days and Shaman are fun. I leveled my Shaman Enhancement because melee dps gear actually exsists prior to Lv60 (and I love melee). The spell damage mail gear doesn't really show up until you get to outland at 58+ so elemental is a little harder to do unless you wear cloth.
I don't recommend leveling as Resto unless you plan on grouping a lot. People will love you as Resto though, always looking for healers. Have fun
 
Roll a druid! They're the only class who are good at everything... Great melee dps, great casters, great tanks, and awesome healing!

Level now, and decide what spec to use later!
